The breakfast was so filling and appetizing that we often didn’t eat again until late afternoon. It was sometimes a buffet, sometimes a la carte. We also had two 90-minute spa sessions, though the therapists seemed to go beyond the booked time, and I’m pretty sure we got two hours each. The staff were attentive, courteous, and friendly without being overly deferential. There were plenty of them, and they seemed very well led and managed. The respect for guests was clear, while everyone still had their own personality. Our room was well appointed, with a large balcony, a very large TV, and air conditioning that we mostly turned off since Baguio in late February wasn’t very hot. The two double beds were supportive and softer than beds usually are in the Philippines, which suited our UK tastes. The hotel seems fairly new, and the upkeep and presentation were immaculate. Even the two lifts serving six floors were quick and efficient. Central Baguio was about a 10-minute walk, so we went out each day to look around and eat. We loved the hotel and its location, and will definitely be back after our four-day, three-night stay.

The food was the highlight for me. Every dish looked lovely, tasted fresh, and had plenty of flavor. Portions were generous without being too much. Prices felt fair for the food and service, and our server made good recommendations. Service was prompt but never rushed. We arrived an hour before closing, but the staff were still welcoming, warm, and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy and stylish, with a beautiful, relaxing view. I had a wonderful visit and will definitely come back. It’s worth visiting for the food, service, and comfortable setting.

Our room for two was clean and nice, with a great king-size bed, though it took up nearly all the space. We got four small bottles of water each day, and the free breakfast had a good selection. The hotel lobby was nicely decorated. The room wasn’t soundproof, though, and I could clearly hear guests chatting in the lobby. The bathroom lighting is quite dim and could be improved.

I stayed five days at Orchard Hotel and had a pleasant time. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff member at the entrance was so friendly that my kid enjoyed chatting with him. A few things could be fixed: the card key needs to be reactivated every couple of days, and the Wi-Fi password changes daily. Drinks in the fridge by the breakfast area cost extra, but there’s no sign saying so. In the bathroom, light spills into the sleeping area through an uncovered top corner of the glass wall. The exhaust fan should have its own switch, so you can turn off the lights while leaving the fan on.

The hotel failed my expectations for service and staff attitude five times on the first day. To me, those things reflect management policy. The room on the fourth floor was a decent size and had an exquisite view, but a pair of joined beds took up so much space that we senior citizens had little room for luggage or to move around on our long trip. Google Maps calls this a five-star hotel, but that clearly doesn’t match the experience. There was no tissue box in the toilet, only rolls of toilet paper, and the flush malfunctioned the first time we used it, so we had to call maintenance. Elsewhere in the Philippines, drinking water is generously provided for free wherever you need it. Here, they rationed it to four 350 ml bottles, hardly enough even for one person. When we asked for more, we were told extra bottles would be taken from the next day’s room make-up quota. I bought more myself, but that response felt insulting. The Chinese restaurant on the property wouldn’t let us charge to the room. When we asked the front desk for an empty plate and knife to eat fruit in our room, they said plates and cutlery were only available with room service orders from the multi-cuisine restaurant. Maybe, since the hotel is full, they don’t need discerning travelers like us.
