At night there were frogs, which was hard for me because I have a real phobia of them. That was one part of a terrible getaway with my husband. Our first room looked like it was falling apart: mold on the toilet seat and blinds, a dirty floor, and a daybed mattress without even a sheet. We asked to switch rooms, and they gladly helped, but the replacement cost less than the one we’d booked. It took them an hour to show us options, since most rooms seemed to have the same mold on the toilet seats. In the end we got a room that was manageable. We left before finishing our two nights. They did refund us, but it took a month to come through. What a nightmare.

The location is great, and we loved the big pool. Zoe had the best time wandering around the resort, and the restaurant food was really good. When we got to Costa Pacifica, Baler in November 2025, our booked oceanview room was under maintenance, so we were given a different room at first and moved to an oceanview later that day. The room amenities could use an upgrade, and the Wi-Fi was weak in the room, so we had to sit in reception to connect. It was my birthday, and there was a complimentary cake waiting when we entered. We’d still love to come back.

The people here are genuinely nice, and the service was great. There are lots of good cafes and restaurants nearby, all about five minutes away. The beach was nice too. I don’t think the hotel cleans it, but the stretch right in front was pleasant, and the locals were friendly. We first stayed in rm 207, which was roadside, sometimes noisy, and had a horrible view. We switched to rm 124 by the beach, and I’m glad we did. I’m not sure if the rooms are dated or just not well maintained. In rm 124 the sliding door was faulty and the AC wasn’t working, but we reported it and they fixed it. The view and sound of the crashing waves made up for those issues. Breakfast buffet was okay, maybe a 6 out of 10, and I think the food could be better. I told my wife I didn’t think we’d return because the drive was so long, but the experience so far makes me think we should. Looking forward to next time.

The spacious, comfortable rooms made it easy to relax, and the beach view was a real highlight. The food was good, the staff were very accommodating, and I tried their massage, which was really good too. I had a great stay at Costa Pacifica Baler and will definitely come back.

The best part was how kind and attentive the staff were. They really tried to make sure we were happy, and the whole stay felt wonderful. From the hotel there’s a lovely view across Baler Bay, and the sandy beach is just a few metres away. There was driftwood and rubbish along the shore, likely left by the recent typhoons; the strong winds and waves have badly damaged buildings and the promenade nearby. The hotel is one of the few that has managed to repair most of the damage, though work is still underway. We enjoyed the food at breakfast, mostly Filipino dishes, and it tasted excellent. In the evening the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, live music, and good service. There’s a lovely outdoor pool with loungers, plus a separate pool for children. Our room had a pleasant shower with hot and cold water. The toilet and shower sat behind a glass wall and door, while the sink and mirror were in an open area. The room itself was fairly spacious, with a large double bed and an extra bed available. There was a big wardrobe, a ceiling fan that circulated air well, a kettle, a small filter coffee maker, and complimentary bottled water. The refrigerator didn’t seem to work. The Google Smart TV had an intermittent Wi-Fi connection. A few things were less convenient. The air conditioner cooled well but was very loud, and its fan setting was either “turbo” or off. The balcony light couldn’t be switched off, so a technician had to remove the bulb and use a ladder to reach it. Lighting throughout the rooms was rather dim in the evenings and early mornings, which we noticed as we’re getting on in years 🤣. We were also given only one key card per room.
