Banaue Sunrise Guest House

The people here were lovely and helpful, and I really enjoyed our stay. It’s a remote area, which has its own appeal. Our room was spacious, the beds were clean and comfortable, and there was a rack for backpacks. The bathroom was basic but did the job. The water was more lukewarm than hot, so keep that in mind if you’re used to hot showers. The mountain views are beautiful. If the rooster wakes you up, you might catch the sunrise. The rice terraces were lovely too, and our local guide, who owned a patty, showed and explained a lot to us.

We planned on staying two nights, but a tropical storm and bad weather kept us here for a whole week. The staff were super friendly, cooked great meals every time, and kept the large menu available and well stocked even through the storm. Our room was clean, with a nice big bed and a warm shower. There’s a small shop next door for drinks and snacks, and souvenirs are available in the restaurant.

We spent four days and three nights trekking in the Banaue region and stayed here during the trip. The hotel was pleasant, the staff polite, and the food was good. Its best feature is the breathtaking view across the city from its hilltop location.

This was a nightmare. We booked here because parking was offered, but when we returned to the guest house, they said they’d given all the spaces to people who weren’t guests. We had to leave our scooter by the roadside. The bathroom had no water at all, so there was no flushing toilet or shower. We and other guests complained several times, but nothing was fixed. The staff didn’t explain what was going on or keep us updated. They just ignored it and went home or to bed. Worst of all, the bathroom smelled like a sewer, and the smell spread into the room even with the door closed. The staff were unfriendly too. We got out as early as we could in the morning.
