Dayton Hotel Batangas

My wife and I stayed at Dayton Hotel for two weeks, and I’d book it again. I’d seen a lot of bad reviews, but none of the complaints I read matched what we experienced. The room was very clean, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I can’t think of a reason not to return. The location is ideal, close to everything: transportation is right outside, there’s a mall across the street where we ate, and a money exchange two blocks away. Great job, Dayton Hotel.

The lobby looks well presented, but the problems start at check-in. They tried to sell us an upgrade because they were overbooked and didn’t have the confirmed room type we’d booked. We had two rooms for four people, but each had only one set of towels. When we asked for enough for everyone, they said there’d be an extra charge. The rooms were extremely small, barely enough space to stand, and had no water, tea, coffee, or other facilities. One room’s shower had come detached and couldn’t be used, and the rooms needed maintenance. The hotel had no food except an overpriced, five-item “full buffet” breakfast from 6 to 9am. There’s a small shopping mall opposite and some good places to eat nearby. I definitely wouldn’t book here again.

The Wi-Fi wasn’t good, and our shower stopped working after five days, which is why I didn’t give it four or five stars. Still, I’d recommend the hotel. I stayed 12 days in a deluxe room with a comfortable bed, big TV, good aircon, and a nice shower before it quit. The price was 3500 php, about 70 euro, and breakfast was included and nice. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is right in the middle of Batangas City.

We were trying to catch the boat to Puerto just before Christmas, but the terrible Christmas traffic made us miss it. Dayton had a standard room available, which worked out well. It’s a brand new hotel with lots of quality materials, and the room was very clean with new AC. The staff were very friendly. The drinks we ordered weren’t cold, but I’d definitely recommend it for a short stay.
