Destino Beach Club Dive Resort and Hotel

The kitchen and dining staff were kind and the food was good, but our meal request showed a big gap between what we were promised and what was available. Miss Grace had said by phone they could cook around restrictions for our toddler with a peanut allergy and a senior with a strict diet. When we asked for steamed fish instead of grilled, the chef said they couldn't make anything that wasn't on the menu. Access was another serious problem. We had children and seniors with us, including people who needed canes, and had asked about getting from the parking area to the rooms, dining area, and beach. Miss Grace assured us it was senior- and PWD-friendly, but there was a long flight of stairs from the lobby to the rooms. The road was also difficult without an SUV. She never met or spoke with us during our 3-day, 2-night stay. On arrival, we were told she was busy on the phone and couldn't discuss our concern, and she wasn't there when we left. I found the way she handled clients very unprofessional, and it made her assurances feel dishonest and money-driven. Our room was dirty too. The floor was dusty when we arrived, one sheet was stained, the toilet was dirty, and the sea-view windows were grimy and hard to open, with rust on the locks. The bathrooms had no exhaust fan, so smells lingered after using the toilet or changing the baby's diapers. San Juan is known as a diving spot, so the beach has lots of rocks rather than fine sand. If you're not adventurous or a free diver, it may not suit you. We wanted a peaceful, clean place to rest, and wouldn't recommend this resort or return. I hope management addresses Miss Grace's unprofessional approach.

The family suite's air conditioning wasn't working well. A room that size needs maintenance or another unit. The drive is rough because of the steep climbs, so your vehicle needs to be in top condition. With so few lights, don't make the trip at night.

Destino Resort gave us a restful, enjoyable stay, with warm staff and lovely scenery that made for a peaceful place to relax and take photos. The pool was clear and well kept, with staff on duty for safety and towels available. Bar service was quick and pleasant, whether we ordered a drink by the pool or at the bar. Kuya Chef's meals were flavorful, satisfying, cooked just right, and worth the price. Kuya Marlon looked after us on the night we arrived and helped us settle in after the long trip. Everyone we met was friendly, polite, and ready to help. A few things could be better. The bed mattress, ceiling, and shower area could use upgrades. The access road would be easier if it were wider and the overgrown grass trimmed. We visited during habagat season, when the beach wasn't at its best. Staff said it gets calm, clear, and good for swimming in summer, so we'd like to return then. Despite those things, the hospitality and relaxing atmosphere made our vacation worthwhile. Thanks to the whole Destino Resort team. We'll be back!

We left at 7 AM, so we never got to enjoy the beach that morning. Our stay had become uncomfortable and frustrating: at 1 AM we found several cockroaches in the room, and there was one in the lobby too when we went to reception to request another room. It gave us the impression that cleanliness was a serious problem throughout the hotel. The restaurant was frustrating as well. We had to change our order three times because each dish we requested was unavailable. For a hotel restaurant, that was unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
