Suite Princess Beach Resort

We liked spending time here to relax, and would recommend it. The rooms are beautiful, staff friendly, it’s not too touristy, and breakfast was good. Sometimes it was buffet style and other times set, depending on how many guests there were, but it was good either way. The beach had lots of rubbish and wasn’t nice for swimming, though the pool was clean. There was no restaurant during our stay because of a break-in and no chef, but we found somewhere convenient for lunch or dinner three minutes away on foot. The owner also helped arrange a scooter and an in-room massage, which was really nice.

We stayed two nights and came away with mixed feelings. We walked in without booking, asked the price, and the staff called the boss. Her first question was whether we were locals or foreigners, which made us wonder if the price might be adjusted. Service was very friendly, and breakfast was good and included. Starlink was available, though it didn’t work about half the time. The location wasn’t great: not far from Salagdoong Beach, but there’s nothing around. The resort’s beach entrance was dirty and the water brown. The pool was clean but had only three sunbeds, and sometimes 10-20 local children were swimming there. No hot water at this price felt odd. Cars can park inside, but motorcycles have to stay outside by the street. You can find something better for the same price.

The room was acceptable, but there was no hot water. There was no restaurant, just breakfast, which for vegetarians meant eggs, industrial bread, and fruit. This place definitely isn’t for relaxing or enjoying the beach. The beach was extremely dirty and clearly unsuitable for swimming, walking, staying, relaxing, or anything else. After a couple of days they cleaned a few square meters, but that didn’t make it usable amid all the trash. The pool itself was fine, but day passes meant it was often crowded with large groups, mostly children and teenagers. They were very noisy, with karaoke and loud gatherings throughout the day, so the atmosphere was far from restful. I would’ve liked to know about those parties, especially since I expressly asked.

Hans and Alice made us feel very welcome and helped with whatever we needed, from scooter hire to trips and transportation. The rest of the staff were friendly, helpful, and always smiling too. There are a few good restaurants within walking distance and a sari sari store opposite. Breakfast was really good, especially the freshly made omelette I often chose. It’s a great base for exploring Siquijor if you want somewhere peaceful. The owners are building an extension to the bar and a restaurant area, which should help the place keep improving. If you’re after a party spot, this probably isn’t for you, but for a quiet, relaxed stay you won’t be disappointed.
