ZEN Rooms Bora Sky Hotel

I booked the room for a friend from Japan and her family, and they were very disappointed with the service. When they entered, there was an unpleasant musty, stale smell, as though the room hadn’t been aired out for days. The room felt stuffy and wasn’t properly cleaned, and its general condition let them down. They checked out right away and went looking for somewhere better. Since they hadn’t even stayed an hour, I believe a refund would be appropriate.

My sister and I visited on April 30, and the staff were good to us even though we arrived late. The room was nice, with a mini refrigerator, comfortable beds, and secure locks. Our room’s TV had no cable, perhaps because of the effects of the power interruption. Dmall is within walking distance. Thanks for the service, and I hope we can return on another visit.

The location is handy, right by the highway and a short walk from D’mall, and the staff were friendly. The Wi-Fi was okay. But the family room cost ₱2500 a night and had no other amenities, and breakfast wasn’t included, even though the room was only good for four people and we were two adults, two kids, and a baby. The rooms are a bit old, and water stayed on the bathroom floor because it didn’t drain properly. There’s no phone in the room, so you have to go all the way downstairs if you need anything. I booked last minute through Agoda. Staff said booking directly would have been cheaper, but their Google phone number wasn’t even updated, so how could I have done that? I’d booked a room for two, and they offered us an upgrade to the family room because of our group. There’s a small Korean store at the hotel entrance, with stairs behind it leading up to the rooms. At first it seemed cheap, but it wasn’t really. They’re very strict: visiting hours end at 10pm, and they charge ₱750 per head if you go past that. They also charged ₱350 per hour for overstaying, even though heavy rain had delayed our return. There’s only one entrance, with CCTV monitoring people coming and going. If I’d had the chance to get a refund, I would have moved to a better hotel at the same rate or just a little more, with better amenities.

This B&B was a horrible experience and, in my view, worth at most one star for the money. It’s in the noisiest part of town beside a construction site, with banging all day. None of the facilities were up to standard: the phone didn’t work, the Wi-Fi wouldn’t connect and was slow, the bathroom shower flooded, and the bath towels were half-dry. Think twice before booking.
