Chill Out Hostel Boracay

We had a great Boracay stay thanks to Chill Out Hostel. Our group found the rooms spacious and comfortable, and the staff were kind, accommodating, and understanding. The location worked really well for us, close to bulabog beach and only about a five-minute walk from D mall. The service was great too. Thank you, Chill Out Hostel! 🩷

I got both sunrise and sunset without any hassle, hahaha. The location between D’Mall, about a five-minute walk away, and the water activities at Bolabog Beach makes it really convenient. I slept well in the dorm room because the guest rules are strictly enforced, which made the stay comfortable. Internet was a surprise bonus: I’ve stayed at several mid- to high-end hotels in Boracay without getting a reliable signal like this. I could get 5G indoors, and the Wi-Fi speed was fine for working remotely.

I thought I’d stay about a week, then move somewhere else on the island, but regretted leaving pretty quickly. The amenities here aren’t something you find everywhere in Boracay, lol. One quick phone call and I was able to come back for a longer stay. The hostel is a short walk from the famous Boracay beaches, and having a bar and restaurant attached is handy. Everything I ate and drank there was nice. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. They have regular events like karaoke nights if you’re into that, but it’s not an extreme party hostel, which suited me. If I return to Boracay, I’ll stay here.

I needed somewhere to rest after a power interruption on the island because I had work the next day. The room was so hot that I couldn’t sleep, and I even showered at 5:30 a.m. to cool down. I thought about asking for a fan, but I was on the upper bunk behind privacy curtains, so it didn’t seem practical. Other guests had apparently complained about the heat too. At checkout I asked whether the AC temperature was normal. The receptionist said the cooling was weak because it was set to max 8 and should be adjusted to a lower temp. I didn’t think that explanation fit a window-type AC, since I understood lower settings to apply more to split-type units, but I let it go. I’d been told at the front desk that late checkout would cost 50 pesos; at checkout, they asked for 100. I explained what I’d been told, then said they could charge 100 if they wanted. There was also confusion with my booking. I’d clearly messaged on WhatsApp on May 22 that I needed the next day and was requesting Sunday late checkout, but when I arrived they couldn’t find it because it was scheduled for May 24-25. Luckily, they still had a bunk. I hadn’t checked the voucher because it was a last-minute decision while I was working, and I assumed it had all been arranged. I was disappointed. I just wanted to rest because I was exhausted from work.
