My biggest issue at Kamusta was the nonstop road noise in Room 203. It faced the road at a low level, and I knew as soon as I walked in that I wouldn’t sleep well. The room was small but fine for one person. The bathroom was awkward too, since you have to step up into it from the room. Getting to the hotel was confusing. There was no visible sign or clear entrance, and I found the way only after asking a woman at the Florista shop. The lobby is up a flight of stairs, which also isn’t obvious. Lita met me when I arrived and showed me Room 203, on the lobby level. When I raised the noise problem, Lita checked occupancy. Kamusta was full, so she offered me a room at their sister property, Luxx Boutique Hotel, near the end of Station 2. There was bar noise there from about 6pm to midnight, but I found that easier to handle than road noise all day and night. You can hear the difference in the videos I attached. I’d avoid 203. I guess 202 may be better since it doesn’t have a glass door, though it’s right beside reception. Lita handled the move and it went smoothly. Luxx suited me better: the room was larger and it’s about 40 meters from the beach. The nighttime noise was still there, but I could tolerate it given the other advantages. I’ll review Luxx separately. For Kamusta, I especially want to commend Lita for being attentive, proactive, and professional, and for caring about my experience. She’s an asset to the hotel.

The room had clean sheets, plenty of space, and a fair price. I appreciated the kettle, coffee, creamer, sugar, and mini fridge. The Wi-Fi was especially good, with several login options; one network reached up to 100 Mbps, which worked great for my setup. The hotel is on the main road, about five minutes on foot from D’Mall and roughly 15 minutes from the beach. Noise was the main drawback in my room, which was beside reception and next to a room being renovated. I could hear staff conversations and banging clearly. I asked how long the work would continue, but wasn’t sure whether it stopped during my stay. The bathroom was also dim, with dark gray walls making it feel darker. The hot and cold shower did work.

The room was clean, spacious, air-conditioned, and had a safe. They supplied free water, coffee, toiletries, and towels, and there was a small fridge. I loved the pillows, though the bed squeaked whenever I moved or changed position. The price was good and the beach was only a short walk away. Check-in went smoothly, thanks to the accommodating staff.

I’m really disappointed with the customer service and how inflexible the cancellation policy was. Bad weather forced our trip to be cancelled, something we couldn’t control. We told the hotel in advance that our flight had been cancelled and that the typhoon threat meant we couldn’t go ahead with the booking for the following week. Agoda said we could submit a cancellation and refund request because of the weather, but the hotel turned it down even though we had notified them ahead of time. It’s understandable if someone cancels on the same day or gives very late notice, but that wasn’t our situation. This was frustrating and felt very inconsiderate.

The location is great, just a three-minute walk from White Beach, and the service was excellent. This newly built hotel is well kept, with nice bathrooms stocked with towels and eco-friendly toiletries. Rooms have a good layout and include a TV, fridge, and safe. It’s a good-value option for families and groups, and there’s a room for couples too. Just keep in mind there’s no elevator.
