The pool really is massive and crystal clear, just as Google says, and it’s a lovely place to spend an afternoon. I was also impressed by the breakfast buffet: lots of fresh choices and excellent coffee. The lobby and interior have a sophisticated feel, with a mix of modern elegance and classic Filipino style. The bedding and finishes felt high quality throughout. The team were friendly and attentive. Den Mark at reception made us feel especially welcome. When we mentioned our honeymoon, they went beyond what I expected by giving us complimentary cakes and upgrading us to the west side, in the other wing. If you want a luxurious-feeling escape on a budget, with a great breakfast and pool, I’d recommend this hotel.

The beach setup was a highlight. The path to the sea is very convenient, and the friendly hotel team there set up and emptied the sunbeds and chairs and provided towels. It makes for an easygoing time by the water. Our check-in was warm, and the comfortable room opened straight onto the pool. There can be early morning noise from the pool, though, so light sleepers may want to ask for a quieter room. The hotel is charming, spotless, well equipped, and clearly geared toward families. I’d like to see more for younger guests, such as a small playroom with arcade-style games, a ping-pong table, computer games, or other light entertainment. Breakfast had a good range of carbs and proteins, but few vegetables and salads. More fresh options would balance it out. It was a very pleasant stay, and those kid-focused additions would make it an outstanding family choice.

Sherry at reception helped us switch from two rooms to one family room, and she was kind, responsive, and very helpful. Thanks to her, everything felt easy and comfortable, and we felt well looked after. The pool bar team, Kerstin, Ellen, Reynar, and Delmar, were fantastic too. They were always friendly and attentive, the drinks were excellent, and they created such a relaxed, positive atmosphere that it felt like hanging out with friends. The hotel has a warm, professional team, and they made our stay special.

Our room was incredibly spacious and comfortable, and the staff seemed to enjoy their work, which made the service pleasant. We stayed with two five-year-olds and a 10-year-old. There was no extra charge for the older child apart from breakfast, which cost 550 pesos. The elegant buffet hall offered savory dishes like dim sum and sashimi without an overwhelming number of choices. There were also cereals, yogurt, fruit, and rice-friendly viands such as Humba and meatballs. Reaching the front beach meant walking through the long, massive pool for about seven minutes, which added to the experience of our superb stay at Mandarin Bay Resort.
