The team and the food made this a really good stay, and the place has a distinctive feel. We spent two nights in the Al Faro Tower room, “Siete,” for our honeymoon. The staff were as lovely as the reviews say. The sea breeze kept the room cool without air conditioning, and the bed was long enough for me, which can be hard to find in the Philippines if you're over 170 cm. The mattress was on the thin side for my taste, though it wasn't a big issue. The unusual architecture also means some things aren't as practical, and there was no hot water in the shower in Siete, so it's good to know that ahead of time. The room's decor felt below the resort's otherwise thoughtful, picture-perfect standard. The plain table and aluminium chairs seemed like a missed chance for more considered furniture. Just a small suggestion.

The Coral Garden half-day trip was the standout for us. Noel and Captain were great, and we had wonderful snorkeling with three turtles close by. Tours cost a lot because they're essentially private, and there's so much distance between places here. We shared a tour with another couple to split the cost, which helped, though island entry fees and food weren't included. If Coron Island is your main goal, this spot is too far away. For a quiet change of scene in a beautiful setting, it's lovely for a night or two. It's very isolated, with lovely views all around. The rustic bungalows are pleasant, but ours had no safe, tea or coffee, and only one tiny, flimsy blanket. We asked for another so we could each have one. Food prices are fair and happy-hour beer from 3 to 7 pm is very cheap, but breakfast was basic and poor value. It really ought to be part of the room price. The massage was good and fairly priced at 800. Dingo the dog is lovely. One thing to budget for: there's a 4% card fee, which feels steep, especially when there's no room safe for the cash needed to pay for things. The transfer is 2,000 pesos each way, also very expensive.

The boat trip the hotel arranged privately was a real highlight, and we also borrowed a kayak for free on a couple of days to explore nearby. Getting transfers from our accommodation was easy too. We had a fantastic time at Al Faro. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and made us feel at home. Breakfast was great, and the pizzas were honestly excellent. The views from both the restaurant and the rooms were incredible. We'll definitely return.

Amor deserves a special mention for looking after us so well. She even called our previous hotel to arrange for the shoes we'd left there to be returned. Everyone was lovely and accommodating. We spent two nights at Al Faro over Christmas to relax, and it was exactly what we wanted. The views are among the best I've seen, and the room was a highlight of our time in the Philippines. We would have stayed longer if there had been availability. The food was good and fairly priced considering how far away everything is. I'd definitely recommend it.

The pool looks like a postcard, though it's shallow, so don't dive in. It's really there to relax by and enjoy the view. I also got a massage and thought it was well worth it. I came to the area to cuba dive and chose Al Faro based on its reviews and price. The food was good, much better than at most other places, and apart from one lunch I ate every meal here. The room suited me perfectly, with fans instead of air conditioning. I even felt cold on two nights. The staff were attentive and helpful the whole time. Be prepared for the stairs up from sea level. The staff carried my luggage, but some people may find the climb hard. I'll be back next year for a longer stay.
