The diving team downstairs were awesome, with access to plenty of dive sites. Free kayaks were a nice bonus too. We paddled off to find a seaplane wreck, and the waterways felt safe. You can also reach other resorts across the water for sunset and less expensive meals. The setting is perfect if you want peace, quiet and lovely views. We enjoyed the serenity from the dining area overlooking the infinity pool. Rooms are spacious and lovely, and the staff are very kind, as people generally are throughout the Philippines. Service can be slow, including clearing tables. Island time, I guess. For the downsides, prices feel high for the Philippines, and a 22% tax on meals and drinks seems ridiculous given that other resort meals cost less. There were box jellyfish in the water along the resort's edges. Breakfast was very basic for the price: two eggs, two slices of toast, basic fruit and noodles. You can add more for extra, but the cost cutting is obvious. There isn't much choice for Western guests, and the fake bacon was disappointing.

The rooms are spacious, and those views are incredible. Food and drink service was good too. Try the mango shake, I had so many, haha! The team at BBL were warm and welcoming, quick to respond and always smiling. There is room to improve the menu, especially with more international choices for vegan, vegetarian and chicken dishes, which could make dining better for foreign guests. If seafood, red meat or local food is your thing, I'm sure you'll eat well. All in all, a great stay. Thanks, team BBL.

The pool area is lovely, with a fantastic view. We had dinner at the restaurant and really liked the warm atmosphere. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food, and everything we tried was excellent. We'd happily come back.

The staff were kind, and our rooms were clean and pleasant, with good air conditioning and very comfortable beds. The views are incredible and the hotel itself is fantastic, but once we arrived we felt like a money cow. Prices for everything were high. For example, the hotel's four-hour tour for our group would have cost 14,500 php, with no food or towels. The hotel across charged 8,000 php for the same tour, and online we found an eight-hour option for 15,000 that included lunch and drinks. The hotel food wasn't anything special either, so we took a boat taxi to the other hotel. They picked us up for free, while BBL would charge for that. The included breakfast was small but fine, with no buffet; anything more costs extra. The airport transfer booked through the hotel was crazy expensive. I arranged one outside and got it for one fifth of the hotel's price.

The lodge's remote location is the main thing to keep in mind. It's a great base for divers, especially anyone planning to dive wrecks, with wreck diving operators nearby. Our room was spotless, comfortable and well maintained. The restaurant served excellent food with good service in a lovely atmosphere. Hospitality was amazing from the moment we arrived: everyone was friendly, attentive and ready to help with a smile. The guest relations team checked in regularly and made sure every detail was taken care of. We had a marvelous stay at Busuanga Bay Lodge.
