Almont Inland Resort

Almont Inland Resort made a pleasant home away from home for a while. Everyone on staff was friendly and easy to approach, and the location worked well for me with government offices, malls, and other establishments nearby.

The staff were generally accommodating, which helped with the event arrangements. There’s also enough space for different activities, and the setting is fairly comfortable. In Butuan, it’s a practical choice when getting around easily matters, with the basic facilities for meetings, seminars, and small to mid-sized functions. The venue does its job for community events and standard gatherings, but the facilities feel average beside higher-end hotels and convention centers. It could use improvements to the infrastructure, interiors, and event equipment, and it doesn’t offer especially modern design or premium amenities. A functional local option, though not a standout.

The location and grounds were lovely. It’s central, well kept, and the scenery is great. Even with a crowd, the place still felt okay. The food was very good by Philippine standards, and about 95% of the staff were exceptional: cheerful, kind, and keen to help. I wanted to love this place, and some of the experience really was good, but the problems outweighed it. The room looked nice, yet cleanliness was a serious issue. The shower was dirty and stained, there were handprints on its door, the counter and tap looked filthy, the drain backed up and flooded half the room, and the linens were stained. I also got no sleep. The doors provided no sound insulation, and large groups shouted and carried on all night. No staff came around to enforce quiet hours. At 4 a.m., after the courtyard noise had gone on long enough, I called the front desk. They apologized sincerely but did nothing. It went quiet at 5, then started again at 7 when people woke up. That felt completely unacceptable and raised real concerns about site security. In the morning, staff neither apologized nor mentioned what happened. That ruined what could have been a great stay, and I wouldn’t return.

This is the one place that always makes us feel at home. The staff treat us like family. If you visit on a weekend, look out for THE GEM, a family singing group who sound like a jukebox. They’re a fun trio, and you can request songs.
