Destiny's Place Hotel

Friendly staff and a nice hotel, with a mall nearby.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but dealing with the boss made this the worst hotel experience we've had. We needed somewhere to wait for our ferry after nearly 10 hours, so we asked for a six-hour stay even though the short-stay option is three hours for 500 pesos. They charged us 1,000 pesos, basically doubling that rate. The room was fairly clean and okay, but its partition was drywall. They gave us just one small towel and no blanket. The air conditioning was cold, so my husband asked if we could borrow a blanket. The boss said they wouldn't provide one because we were only staying six hours. No blanket for a six-hour stay, seriously? Luckily, I'd brought a large shawl, and we switched the AC to fan mode to make it less cold. We were exhausted after riding a motorbike for almost 17 hours and needed decent sleep before another six hours of boat and land travel. If you book a short stay, expect no blanket. They may also charge you again if you transfer rooms. And if you change from a short stay to 24 hours, they charge both rates. We paid 1,000 pesos for six hours, then another 1,500 to extend to 24 hours. We arrived with a cough and left after a really disappointing encounter with the boss. I hope they become clearer about what they offer and improve this service. This is the first hotel we've encountered that offers a room with no blanket.

The 1,500 price felt a bit high to me. I'd have preferred something closer to 1,000 or 1,100. You do get a hot shower and good air conditioning, and 24-hour McD and Centro Mall are an easy walk away.

The staff were courteous and accommodating, and the Wi-Fi was fast. Rooms are cozy and clean, with reasonable rates, and McDonald's is nearby and open 24 hours. The smoking area is on the third-floor veranda. Just note there's no water heater.
