The Monarch Hotel

The room had a string of construction and noise issues: there was no transition strip between the entry and carpet, the tiles were poorly grouted, and the bathroom mirror lights flickered. The built-in cabinets stop short of the ceiling or wall, leaving places for dust to collect. Shower pressure was a problem too, as shown in the video. Sound insulation was poor, so we could hear outside noise, people upstairs, and even someone showering in another room. The room was mostly clean, though the coffee machine was dirty. Some staff tried hard, but service was uneven. The bellboys handled our bags promptly and nothing went missing, although we heard them joking and swearing at each other, which seemed careless for a family hotel. Loading the car was confusing enough that I mostly did it myself, and the luggage could use better securing so it doesn't roll around in the trunk. Our lunch order was forgotten, and they admitted it when we checked. With room service, someone first said an item I ordered wasn't available, then called back five minutes later to say it was. Check-in took a long time at the front desk, but went smoothly once it got going. The food was better than average, though not amazing. The chicken tenders and fries were terrible, while the carbonara pizza was very nice. Breakfast was chaotic. Staff seemed uncoordinated and confused, and there wasn't enough signage, so guests were trying to work out where to go. The tables were crowded, and choices were limited to Filipino food and a waffle station. All the pools felt quite cold. The kids' pool especially should be heated, and it has no stairs to help children get out easily.

We’ve stayed here twice now, and this visit was very good. The staff were kind and respectful, and room service came quickly. The restaurant was clean and the food was excellent. Great work, everyone, and thank you. We’re looking forward to coming back soon.

The rooms were cozy and clean, and there's plenty of parking. Robinson's and lots of restaurants are nearby. The breakfast buffet had a good range of food, and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. The price is a little high for budget travelers, but if you can afford it, stay here.

The staff made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived, and the facilities were well maintained. We stayed at Monarch Hotel last night, and the room was clean, comfortable, and ready for us to relax in. Everything went smoothly, and we had a pleasant visit. Thanks to Monarch Hotel for a lovely stay. We'd happily come back.
