West Peninsula Villas

It’s close to the bus terminal, market, and lots of shops. The staff greeted us as soon as we reached the gate and kept things running smoothly. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was spacious, and the AC was strong. I also enjoyed the pool and pool table. The dining area had a really strong SMART signal, which was a big plus. I’d definitely stay here again.

The staff are friendly, and it was fun chatting with the Survivor contestants who stay here before and after they get voted off. The place is fine for a few nights and typical of budget accommodation in the Philippines, though it’s a bit run down. There were lots of bugs, the pool was murky, and the food was okay but nothing special. If I came back to the area, I’d probably stay near the beach.

The staff were courteous and helpful, and my family enjoyed hanging out around the pool table and mini recreation area. Those are the two stars I’d give it. We booked a 3D2N package for 13 adults and 3 kids in April 2023, with three rooms and four adults in each. When we arrived, the sheets were stained and the towels were almost like rugs. We asked for replacements, but only the towels were changed. Each room had just two towels, so we had to request more, and the toiletries were only two single use shampoo sachets and two small bars of soap per room. I’d asked in advance whether the pool was functional, meaning clean and usable, and was told it was. But it looked dull green and unclean, so we didn’t swim. On the first day, the boat wasn’t ready and we waited about 20 minutes. The second day’s tour didn’t follow the itinerary: of five planned stops, we only got three, and the guide hurried to finish without offering alternatives. We were done much too early. Other tours seemed well organized and fun, but we weren’t warned about the problems beforehand. After traveling 5-6 hours from Legazpi for this package, the experience was really disappointing. I don’t recommend booking the tour package with West Peninsula Villas or staying here. There are better options for the price.

The staff were good, but the food wasn’t that great. The rooms had an odd smell, like they hadn’t been used in a long time. Overall, just so-so.
