BLOC Camp Site

The lake was clean and made a lovely backdrop for photos, and there were friendly cats and a cute dog around. Those were about the only bright spots. We were the only guests, yet our pre-ordered dinner, placed around 5:30 PM and promised for 7, never arrived on time. Check-in was confusing too. There was no clear sign of who the receptionist or caretaker was. A boy playing computer games on his laptop called someone, and the caretaker arrived a couple of minutes later. The caretaker was polite, but the service overall was lacking. Our room looked nice in photos, but had visible dust on the metal frames. We had to wait again because the AC remote was missing. The fans didn’t work, and the light switches were hard to find. While waiting for dinner, I was working at a table and was told to move because the area was “off limits.” There was a small sign on the tower, but it wasn’t clear the restriction covered the whole area. The broken sliding doors in our accommodation were the final straw. We left early for safety reasons. We could’ve asked to move rooms, but after all the problems with service, cleanliness and safety, it didn’t seem worth it.

The Tree T-House had a breathtaking view, strong mobile data signal and a free welcome drink of pandan juice. Our Camp Tree T-House booking included the nearby area for pitching a tent. The house had a sofa bed, AC, balcony, swing and hammock on the ground floor, plus an eating area, so we didn’t need to set up our awning. There was plenty of room for outdoor sports like badminton and Frisbee. Staff were helpful and accommodating, and designated bins meant we didn’t have to take our trash home. They had a restaurant and lots of lake activities for a fee. The bonfire was free, though shared with other guests. A couple of restrooms had issues: one had no electricity, and another couldn’t be closed because its door hinge was broken. The tent spot was quite small for a dome tent. Other rooms beside the Tree T-House blocked the view from the tent. There was a bigger tent area on the opposite side, but those rooms didn’t have AC. Cooking beside the tent or on the Tree T-House ground floor wasn’t allowed, so we had to use the designated cooking area. Cars couldn’t park at camp, and we had to move our things from the parking lot to the site.

There are lots of cats around, and the place was spotless, not a bit of trash in sight. The staff were so accommodating that they gave us a free canoe and dating dock for our anniversary and my birthday. We’ve camped at many places in Luzon, and this was our best experience so far. It felt like being one with nature.

We stayed in the Rest T-house and really enjoyed it. It’s a lovely, quiet vacation spot, and the room design is great. That unit doesn’t have a place to cook, so you’d need to choose another spot if you want cooking facilities. The staff were friendly, and Toni/y made for purrfect company. There are cats around the place too. We’ll definitely come back soon.
