The location was handy, near the night market, with 7-Eleven, Julie’s, and Watson’s close by. My Grab ride to the airport in the morning was about 500 PHP, but I chose a taxi through the Grab App for 400 PHP. I had a great one-night stay at Cebu Backpackers Hostel. It’s a small, cozy place. For the 1500 PHP deposit, you can also provide your ID. Breakfast is complimentary and basic, just coffee and toast with egg or rice, but it was fine. I booked a single room, which was quite small, with the bed taking up most of the space. It was clean and comfortable, the AC worked very well, and there was room for luggage in the cabinets. The bathroom was small too, with a rain shower and a regular shower. The equipment was a bit old, but everything worked. I’d definitely come again.

For the price, it’s a good hostel for a solo stay, with friendly, honest staff and a clean, cozy room. The location is nice for exploring major spots around Cebu City. Just keep in mind that some equipment may be a problem. The aircon was crazy noisy. I told the owner, and she let me switch rooms, but the toilet there seemed to need repairs too. Mentioning it for other travelers. I’d still say it’s a good hostel :)

The rooms are a little small, but the place was clean, efficient, and comfortable. I’ve stayed at many European hostels and Philippine hotels, and this was cleaner than a lot of them. The price to quality ratio is excellent. I left my Kindle behind, and the staff found it right away and asked me to pick it up. I really appreciate their honesty and helpfulness. Many thanks to the team for a great stay!

For a one-night stay, the room was comfortable enough and clean, though it felt cramped even for someone who’s 4’9. There’s lots of storage behind the bed, a fridge, and air-conditioning that works well. Breakfast is complimentary, but I didn’t have it. There’s no elevator, so be ready to carry your luggage upstairs. The bathroom light was really dim, and the shower hose leaked and sprayed water everywhere, so I’m taking off a star. I liked the location near Colon Street. It’s known for petty crime like pickpocketing, but I didn’t feel unsafe with so many people around, as long as you stay alert. The Colon Night market is downstairs near Watson’s pharmacy, so do drop by. Good value for money.

I booked a private room for two nights after a traffic accident left me with a concussion, facial wounds, and injuries to my arms, legs, and knees. The first room I was given didn’t match the photos. I asked to move because I can’t climb high stairs, but staff refused, saying elderly guests were on that floor. Eventually they put me in a room called the “third floor,” though it was actually the fourth. I was bitten by several insects there, including bed bugs and larger bugs that may have drawn blood. Staff then offered me another room on the fourth floor, which was actually the fifth. Because of my injuries and the unsafe conditions, I refused and asked for a refund. The owner said she had cancelled my bookings and the money would be returned to my card, but I got no confirmation and no refund. I had no cash or available funds on my card to pay for another hotel, and ended up stranded at night in unsafe conditions. The owner and local police dismissed my concerns and said it was “my problem.” This place was dangerous, unsanitary, and completely irresponsible. I demand compensation and advise everyone to avoid this hostel.
