E-mo Dormitory - Hostel

The bed was comfortable and the room clean, with some excellent but expensive restaurants nearby. The rest of my stay was uncomfortable. At 6pm it was already dark, I was alone, and there was nobody around. The complex entrance is tucked below the road overpass and isn’t obvious on Google maps, so explaining it to my taxi driver was tricky. He didn’t recognize the business name. A very young security guard, identifiable only by his “Security” tshirt, signed me in and led me down a dark alley. I started thinking about how to get away. Luckily, he took me to a lit building, where someone eventually arrived to check me in. The dorm seemed to be part of a language school, but nobody spoke enough English to confirm that. There was one other person in the dorm, and she wasn’t interested in talking. The old shower sprayed everywhere, and there was no loo roll in the toilet. I felt uneasy walking alongside the dark, busy road with no pavement, but it was the only way to get dinner. At 7:30AM, loud music started blaring from next door and someone shouted over a tannoy. Breakfast was terrible too, the last straw for me: 109PHP for over sugared instant coffee and standard Filipino breakfast fare. I was so glad I stayed just 1 night.

It was comfortable and cheap, but really hard to find when the gate is closed.

Getting around from here is easy, and the location is great for the price. It’s less than a 5-minute walk to the IT Park Mall. I recommend it for a budget-friendly trip, but explaining the location can be tricky with transportation options other than Grab, so please use Grab.
