Lex Hotel Cebu

The breakfast that came with the stay was good, pretty much the only nice thing about this hotel. I stayed three nights at Hotel Cebu, and the place was so loud that car horns seemed to be going off inside the room. Wi-Fi was awful, like 1990 dial-up. The rooftop pool had only about three lounge chairs and was always full. When I went to retrieve an item I’d lost at the airport, hotel staff physically stopped me from leaving and wouldn’t let my Grab ride go until I agreed to check out a day early, even though I planned to come back that night. I wouldn’t recommend this busy, noisy location.

The rooftop pool and bar were a lovely place to unwind, especially at night with the city lights in view. Breakfast had tasty Filipino and international choices, too. Lex Hotel Cebu is handy for getting around, with malls, shops, and Jollibee and McDonald’s nearby on Escario Street. My room felt a little dated and basic, but it was clean and comfortable. The staff were warm and always ready to help, which made the stay feel welcoming.

The location was fine, and the room itself was okay, though the furniture felt old and the showerheads need replacing. The toilet was cheap. The staff were unfriendly and inflexible, and could be annoying. At dinner, they asked whether I’d pay by card or cash only after I ordered. If payment was needed up front, they should have said so. Housekeeping locked my door at 7:30 in the morning, then did it again at 10:30. I ordered soup as a starter and a pizza, but they arrived together, and the pizza was the worst I’ve had. I’m pretty sure it was a premade base. There’s plenty more I could add, but I’m giving up.

The location worked well, and the room was clean with really nice hot water. We didn’t use the pool, though it looked good. The staff were kind and helpful.
