Rublin Hotel

The rooms were in poor shape, and customer service didn't make up for it, even though the staff were friendly. We booked seven days but checked out after just one night, despite having paid for the full week. The first room had visible mold, so we asked to switch. The next one still smelled musty, had a very noisy air conditioner, a broken shower head, and stained bedding. Internet kept cutting out, and the TV didn't have Netflix or YouTube. The cleanliness and upkeep were really disappointing. A sad and frustrating stay.

The staff were kind, polite, and apologetic, and tried hard to help, but the problems weren't fixed, so we went elsewhere. We'd booked two nights at a good price. At check-in, things seemed great: the front desk was helpful, the room was reasonably clean, and the air conditioning was cold on a hot summer day. The room was quite dark, but that was okay. We went out for an early dinner and left the AC running to cool the room further. When we returned, it wasn't cooling anymore. They tried to repair it many times, but it was still extremely hot after the sun had blazed all day. They moved us to another room, which was reasonably clean but smelled strongly of something chemical, maybe cleaning bleach. Its air conditioner was faulty too, and the room was hot. We cancelled, but couldn't get a refund because we'd booked through Agoda.

I was at the hotel for a training. The shared men's and women's toilet was clean in the morning but smelled before lunchtime, even with the door closed. Parking was very limited. The conference room seemed like an afterthought, with insufficient AC, poor ventilation, and tiles and walls that badly needed refurbishing.

We hardly spent time at the hotel because we were out all day and only came back to sleep, but I had a comfortable stay and would recommend it to anyone I know looking for somewhere in Cebu. I did get a little anxious at first when I heard outside noise while trying to sleep, even the sound of another room's door opening. Still, I felt safe and relaxed, and slept well.
