Sea Horse Guest House

The location was great, breakfast was okay, and the counter staff were nice. Still, we don’t recommend this place and moved to a nicer hotel after just one night. We booked a “deluxe room,” but the bathroom was disgusting, with large holes in the toilet and shower corners where cockroaches seemed to live. We had to kill one ourselves. Staff came with a broom, looked at the bathroom, then left. The next morning we saw another cockroach heading toward the kitchen. The room looked like it was meant to be clean, and the linens and towels were fresh, but the walls and floors left a lot to be desired.

The family room was spacious and comfortable, and I liked having the toilet, shower room, and face-washing area separated. Staff were accommodating, the aircon was perfect with the fan running, and breakfast was good. They also let us safely leave our luggage if our room wasn’t ready yet. The shower drain was clogged, so we’d end up with about an inch of standing water after a shower, haha. When you first walk in, you might wonder if you chose the right place, but the staff are incredibly friendly. For the price and value, I’d happily come back and recommend it.

The staff are nice and helpful with transfers and boat trips, and the location is very good. That’s about it, though. Our big room had no furniture or hangers, and I could hardly call the bathroom a bathroom. There were two cockroaches living under the shower tiles, too. Breakfast was bad. It’s served on a rooftop with lots of potential, but the space looked awful. The owners should put in some furniture, plants, and a nice view, and serve fruit at breakfast. I wouldn’t recommend staying until they put a little effort into the place.

It’s a good spot close to everything in Coron, with friendly staff and a very good included breakfast. For a reasonable price, the room stayed fresh even when we didn’t switch on the aircon, which worked well. There’s also the option to use the pool at Sunz en Coron Resort. A tricycle ride there costs 20 pesos, and it’s a lovely place to relax. Light sleepers might struggle: a new restaurant just opposite plays live music until around midnight, and it can get a bit loud. That’s not the hotel’s fault, though.
