Bohol Bee Farm

The rooms felt very outdated and seemed to need renovation. We asked to switch rooms and the staff did move us, though their attitude came across as a bit irritated. We only stayed one night and found several kinds of insects in the room, including cockroaches. Insects can happen in tropical areas, but finding multiple types indoors affected our comfort and sense of cleanliness. We decided to move to another hotel.

The complimentary breakfast at the restaurant was amazing, and the ice cream was a treat too. Those cassava cones were great! We also enjoyed the pool area, which felt like an oasis with an aviary alongside it, and the view from the covered waterfront dock. To get to the dock, take the stairs down from the restaurant. The free farm tour at 9am lasted 20-30 minutes, with lots of interesting stops and samples included. We only needed lodging for one night on Panglao and had heard good things about the Bee Farm restaurant. We spotted a hotel there on Google Maps and are so glad we booked. Our room was simple but very large, with effective AC. All those extras exceeded our expectations, especially for the low price. Thanks, Bee Farm Hotel, for a wonderful stay!

The rooms felt like good value, and we liked the food as much as the ocean-facing setting. We stayed three nights and would come back. It’s a nice option if you want to be away from the busy parts of town and don’t need a beach close by. A few things bothered us: the Wi-Fi was unreliable and required logging in each time, a youth camp had loudspeaker announcements before 6 a.m., and there were lots of tours passing through the property each day. Even as a schoolteacher with a high tolerance for noise, I found the camp loud. The place also felt more touristy than I expected.

We came back because we loved our first visit to Panglao, and this time we were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to an ocean-view suite. It was spacious, comfortable, and a great deal, with a terrace overlooking the water. The appliances and amenities all worked well, including the AC, fridge, and water heater. They cleaned daily, changed the toiletries, and refilled the water. Breakfast was included. It was a buffet when there were enough guests, otherwise they served it plated, and it featured their organic products. Their Avocado Ice Cream was the best ice cream I’ve tried, so do give it a try if you visit Panglao. We did see tiny cockroaches about three times during our four days and told the cleaner. With the wooden furnishings and floor, I thought it might be normal, but I mention it in case that matters to someone.
