This is more a collection of small, mostly locally owned apartments than a hotel, and it feels a bit isolated. The nearest local shop is a long walk away. The pool is nice, but be careful of the sharp stones on the steps when it’s dark. A tuk-tuk to Alona Beach takes 20 minutes and costs 250 pesos one way.

I stayed five nights and really enjoyed the place. There’s plenty of space to relax and a pool to cool off in. The restaurant breakfast was nice, and the food and drinks at the bar and restaurant were tasty and reasonably priced. My room was clean, with a huge bed, great AC, and a TV. The shower had good pressure and hot water. I’ll definitely come back.

For a resort, this was a disaster. The Wi-Fi was the worst I’ve ever had, and it seems they haven’t invested in a good connection. The place is only a few years old, yet the construction quality is apparent, with lots of things left unfinished. I don’t think it’s worth paying more than 1,000 pesos a night.

I stayed for a month and found the management very helpful. The owners were easy to reach by message, and being able to pay in advance by card was a great feature. Bohol Jewel is reasonably priced for either short or long stays, and the location is convenient for Tagbilaran or a short drive to Alona Beach. The pool is nice, and there’s a shared area with a bar. Many apartments have been or are being renovated, so you may get a newer unit.
