Bohol Plaza Resort and Restaurant

The resort is built on a hillside, so be ready for a climb up the elevated grounds. Its design really caught my eye the first time I saw it, especially the tinted green glass windows. It reminded me of the Santorini buildings I’ve seen in movies. The service is good and the rates are reasonable. Enjoy your stay!

The peacock and Macaw were great to see in their cages, where they had room to move and fly. A van also takes you to your assigned building, and the cleaning attendants could speak English when they couldn’t answer in their own language. There were hassles too. The front office said they didn’t have enough spare keycards to make a duplicate because lots of guests were coming the next day. The tap water was salty and rusty. The elevator was broken, so climbing to the dining and reception area was tiring. Breakfast was a hassle, especially with a single room booking. I had to wait and follow up before they prepared my meal.

The view was nice, and the room could sleep three, but breakfast covered only two people. We had to pay P195 for the third, while a friend who came to eat at the hotel also paid P195 and got more food. Check-in took a long time before we were shown to our room, and checkout inspection was slow too. The toilet was unflushed and there was cockroach droppings in the bathroom. Staff eventually cleaned the toilet, but left the droppings. Later, after the room was cleaned while we were out, the door had been left unlocked. Service needs work.

The band played good music in the restaurant that evening, and the food was good too. The place itself was okay. I just wish they would do something thoughtful for walk-in guests celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or another special occasion, perhaps take the initiative to prepare a little surprise to go with the order. They should also update the menu.
