The day receptionist was genuinely friendly, smiling, and welcoming. The night receptionist wasn't accommodating, though, and the cafeteria staff were outright rude. For two mornings, when my sister and I asked for a condiment with our complimentary breakfast, the woman only nodded and gave us a thumbs up without looking at us. She didn't greet us or smile either. The hotel is in the city center, so I can understand some of the price, but the small room, missing amenities, rude staff, and lack of Wi-Fi made it feel too expensive. They could have made up for that with a good experience, especially in the hospitality business. On our first day, my sister and I were on the stairs heading to breakfast when an earthquake happened. We saw hotel staff run outside without checking on the guests' safety. It shocked me, since I thought guest safety and needs should come first. I wondered whether they'd had fire and earthquake drills so the team would know what to do. Some staff seemed unhappy in their jobs, as if they were forced to be there. I know everyone is dealing with something, but that doesn't excuse the way we were treated.

I was embarrassed by the torn towel they gave us. The room was tiny and poorly maintained, too. The booking site said Queen size bed, but the photo below shows a double instead. There was no hot shower or bidet, and the basic toiletries were incomplete. The TV was old and tiny, and they didn't provide bottled water. Please improve these things.

We stayed at the new Blue Lotus near the old one. It was a nice place, with spacious parking and a bar, right in the heart of the city.

Whenever I arrive in Davao, I've been stopping here for years. The staff are professional and friendly, the rooms are always tidy, and the dining area is well worth a visit. Great!

I stayed for a week. The staff were friendly, but my room wasn't cleaned. There's a skin clinic next to reception, which didn't bother me. What did bother me was the two dogs at reception. They weren't taken for walks, and after being let out at night, they left poo and wee on the floor twice. The smell was bad, and they were allowed on the reception tables where guests can eat breakfast. Not good.
