Hop Inn Hotel Davao

The room and hotel were clean, and getting around was easy. It’s near McDonald’s and Watsons, public transport is convenient, and Grab was easy to find. There was no real view from the window, though. Service was a mixed bag. We asked for a disposable spoon to take medicine, but staff said they didn’t have one and didn’t seem eager to help. McDonald’s nearby came through instead. The person helping at checkout was much warmer and gave us a polite smile.

Leaving my bags after checkout was easy. My flight wasn’t until evening, so I asked to store them for a few hours while I went out, and the staff offered secure storage without a fuss. I’d arrived late, but check-in still went smoothly. The staff were friendly and efficient, found my Agoda booking after taking my ID, then gave me the key cards and a quick explanation of the amenities. The room felt fresh, bright, and spotless. The bathroom was just as clean, with a good shower, bidet, and roomy sink. I had a really pleasant stay and would recommend the place.

Good value. Check-in took about two minutes once I reached the staff, and checkout was under a minute after I handed back the security IDs. There’s a roomy lobby with plenty of seats and enough parking. The place is tucked behind McDo, with Jolibee, Watson, and Mercury Drugs within walking distance, and Ayala Abreeza about three minutes away. The room reminded me of Hop inn in QC Morato. It’s set up with the basics, including a soft bed, a wide desk for work or meals, an okay TV, and decent aircon. The CR was good for the price. Drinking water is free from dispensers between rooms.

I’ve stayed at more expensive places in PH that were much worse, so keep that in mind. The staff seem to work hard and want guests to have a good experience, but there’s still room to improve. The building is only 1-2 years old and fairly clean so far, though I don’t think that will last without attention. The floor towels were black, and I found black mold in the door jamb and some that had been cleaned from the ceiling. After a shower, water just sits in the bathroom. There’s no light or exhaust fan, and pulling the key card from its holder cuts power to the whole unit. I don’t see how the bathroom can stay mold-free without airflow in a small room designed for sleeping and showering. On a personal note, I dislike the cleaning products used in PH. They give me a tension headache when I sleep, and I also got a nosebleed.
