Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao

The room at Waterfront Hotel was clean, comfortable, and relaxing, and the food was delicious, one of the highlights of my pleasant stay. The dining staff's service needs work, though. When I ask for something, it takes a long time to come back. They say “yes ma’am/sir,” but don't follow through. I had to remind them several times before anything got done, which was frustrating when expecting hotel-level service. Better responsiveness and attentiveness from the waiters and waitresses would make the experience much better. It's still a nice place to stay, and I hope they improve the service.

The location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. The rooms are ancient, the bathroom is falling apart, and the breakfast isn't fit for cockroaches. My biggest issue was the help with our bags when we left. We were put on the highest floor with no lift, despite having quite a bit of luggage and an infant with us. I asked the front desk three times if someone would be available to take our bags down for the hotel-booked airport transfer, and each time they assured me there would be. When it was time to meet the transfer, I called and was told, “sorry sir, we don't have anyone available to help you right now.” They charged us four times the going rate for the transfer, which was fine, but couldn't keep their promise to help bring down the bags. Ridiculous. Never again. Stay somewhere else, like Dusit Thani. It costs a few bucks more but is worth it.

We loved walking by the shore at sunset during our anniversary stay at Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao. It was a lovely way to reflect and feel grateful for another year together. Our ocean-view room was cozy and comfortable, and the seaside scenery, lush gardens, and timeless charm made the stay feel like a peaceful escape. From arrival, we were welcomed with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The staff made us feel at home, and every meal was delicious, especially breakfast with the beautiful morning breeze. Thank you, Waterfront Insular Hotel, for making our anniversary so memorable and heartwarming. We can't wait to return!

We attended a convention at the hotel. It's old, and the rooms are outdated, but the buffet breakfast was good and the service was great. All the staff were friendly and approachable. We were there during the earthquake. Thank God we were in Davao, where emergency response was very quick. Fire trucks and ambulances were everywhere as soon as we got out of SM Lanang. The infrastructure was strong, and there was no visible damage around the city.
