We loved staying right by the beach in one of the cute, cozy cottages. There isn’t much room for luggage, and it can get hot, but the fan helped and the beachfront setting made it worthwhile. The shared bathrooms were okay and cleaned regularly. The family who owns the place are lovely. We spent a lot of time chatting with their children and singing karaoke together. They also had some really cute kittens while we were there.

The next day was sunny and the sea was calm, so the weather was completely different from the night we arrived. There hadn’t been a storm on the day or during the week we booked, but a sudden spell of bad weather came up that night, and the staff hadn’t anticipated it or prepared for it. My parents-in-law wanted to stay in the seaview tent after staff assured us all the tents at the beach camp were safe. They also said they’d never experienced a storm there before. When it started raining, the cashier was rude and hurried us toward the cottage around 11 p.m. We couldn’t leave the restaurant while it was raining, and they gave us just one small umbrella. At checkout, the same cashier was still unprofessional about what had happened and told me she and the staff had worked overtime. We could have had a better experience the following day, but her attitude was still disappointing. Given our experience, I wouldn’t recommend this beach camp for big groups or families with toddlers, kids, or seniors. It may suit solo travelers, couples, or yuppies looking for an adventure in El Nido, Palawan.

Set by the sea, Amwani Beach Camp feels like a peaceful escape, with a blend of simplicity and artistry that makes the details memorable. It’s a one-of-a-kind place for anyone looking for calm and inspiration. I highly recommend it.

Our group of 7 adults and 1 toddler came on January 6-7, 2026, to try this camping-style beachfront resort. Some of us had traveled from Belgium and France. We arrived by van around 7:00 PM after traveling from El Nido and visiting other beaches. The resort is remote, and it had rained heavily on the way. The price was lower than other beachfront resorts, but I don’t think guest safety should ever be compromised. I’m writing this because they deserved zero stars, not one. After dinner around 10:00 PM, heavy rain and strong winds came suddenly. One of the resort’s shade or roof coverings blew off and landed on a cottage. We were frightened and worried, especially with a toddler. Our booked tent was damaged, and our cottage and mattress were soaked. Staff didn’t act right away, and it felt like they were rushing to leave after 10 PM. We were left trying to solve the problems ourselves, with little concern shown for what might happen. The woman in red at the restaurant cashier was rude and impatient, rushing both the staff and our group to get to the cottage. They gave us only a small umbrella and seemed to expect us to hurry off with all our luggage because they were already “working overtime.” The wet mattress wasn’t replaced right away since it was past 10 PM. We reached the cottage around 11:00 PM, soaked and exhausted. The next day carried on as if nothing had happened. At checkout, the same cashier made a sarcastic comment about our “bad experience” without apologizing. If you’re on a very tight budget and don’t mind dirty shared toilets and basic facilities, perhaps this resort will work. Otherwise, don’t take the risk. I wouldn’t wish our experience on anyone.

I had a great three-day stay. The host and staff were really helpful, and the place was lovely. Highly recommended.
