Giecel Pension

The sewage smell was awful, the room was full of sand, and we even found cockroaches. The sheets were dirty and clearly hadn't been changed after the previous guests. During our four-day stay, nobody cleaned the room or emptied the bins, and they never brought toilet paper, even after we asked twice for cleaning. The owner was rude and greedy, treated us with a level of disrespect we'd never experienced at a hotel, and tried to cheat us out of money. The Wi-Fi didn't work either. This was the worst hostel we've ever stayed in. There are better, cheaper hotels down the street, like Vencejos Inn.

Breakfast was basic, and the staff were fine. I don't really get some of the reviews, because they were friendly and chatty with us. The room had air conditioning that was a little noisy, though I've stayed somewhere worse. The shower was hot when there was water. A good little hotel, and I'd stay again.

The beds were comfortable and the location was handy, but the internet was horrendous. We had two rooms, and one was covered in mould. Its TV didn't work even though we paid extra for it, and mine had no remote, so I couldn't control it. There was no hot water, and one day there was no water at all because it had been turned off. We only noticed the breakfast sign on the day we left, and nobody had mentioned it. The staff were nice but not very interactive. It's also extra to have a guest, and the front door closes at 10 pm. Overall, very basic.

The sink in the room was the main problem. It seemed like the sewage smell came from there, and it was terrible whenever the sink was used. The air conditioner also dripped water into the room. Otherwise, it's good enough if all you need in El Nido is a bed and breakfast. It's on a corner, with about a five-minute easy walk to the beach.
