Jammers Pension

The place is cheap, but I can’t say you get what you pay for. The fan room was really bad, so don’t book it. There was no coffee or anything like that, and the towels were worn out. The bedding and covers were very thin. The owner, an older man, was sarcastic and very rude. His wife was much nicer and tried to help and provide good service. Poor woman, it seemed she couldn’t do much once he started treating guests badly.

We arrived in El Nido late with no booking and found a room here at the last minute. It was clean, affordable, had AC, and was just right. The host was really nice too. Thanks for saving our night!

The staff were lovely. I stayed for ten days, longer than I’d planned, and we quickly got comfortable and decided to settle in. It’s a humble pension, best for backpackers or families and groups looking for somewhere quiet at a reasonable price rather than luxuries. The location is good, near the bay-beach, shops, restaurants, bars, and a wonderful bakery with delicious local bread. The pension is surrounded by mountains and has a garden. There’s free Wi-Fi, though it’s slow. Rooms come in standard or group sizes, with private or shared bathrooms and a choice of AC or fan. They were clean enough, about 6.5 out of 10. You can hand-wash clothes there instead of using a laundry service, and they sell cold drinks and other basics. It’s a cozy option for solo travelers, couples, or families who only need basic accommodation, for a short or longer stay.

From below, the view isn’t so nice, with piles of bricks, wood, and sand. Sometimes there’s a sewer smell outside, though I never noticed it in the room. If you look up, though, you get a nice view, since the place sits under the rock. It’s affordable and well located near the beach in central El Nido. The climate control and three-axis ceiling fan were the most effective combination I saw in the Philippines. Most activities are far from the hotel, so the drawbacks weren’t too bad, and the fair price and location made up for some small discomforts.
