The beachfront sea view is absolutely worth it, and the breakfast is superb. You can book a free shuttle into the city, plus a shared ride to Puerto Princesa or motorbikes. They give you a coconut on arrival, though in my case I had to ask for it after seeing someone else get one. That felt frustrating, like guests were being treated differently. I only learned about the trycyle service after four days. The area has lots of construction, and workers start around 5.30-6 am in the "filipino way", which definitely affects your stay. There are power blackouts, and you can't count on having water for a shower. The hotel's WiFi is unreliable, so if you need internet, make sure you can get your own Sim card. Other "resorts" I asked about had more than 3 wifi connections, their own generator, and their own water pomp, so I don't think this is an El Nido problem. The rooms are nice, but the aircon sounds like a tractor, and it was hard to sleep the first 2 nights. There are mosquitos in the room, so bring proper protection. Staff are mostly helpful. It's a family-run guesthouse, and sometimes they have pool parties with their friends. In the morning they often shout to communicate with each other. I saw a big mouse running on the stoves many times. They offer boiled water with coffee, but I'd avoid drinking it if you don't want to spend the whole day in the bathroom. The pool isn't very clean, and the sea looked cleaner for swimming. If you love dogs, this place may suit you: there are 6, and they come asking for food while you're eating. That happens anywhere in El Nido. I had a nice stay overall, but keep in mind this is a guesthouse, not a resort.

The family running the resort were wonderful and very helpful, and breakfast was great. Our room had a wonderful view and a big balcony, right by the ocean, which was easily the best part. It was also quite large, but the AC couldn't cool the whole room, and I'd never seen so many ants in a washroom. Cleanliness was just okay. The place felt unfinished near the entrance and cluttered closer to the beach. It wasn't clear when I booked that it's a 10-15 minute walk along a dirt road that regular tuktuks won't take. The resort has its own vehicle, but without a phone when you first arrive, it's hard to contact them. They only emailed us about this after we'd booked a non refundable room, which I think is unacceptable and should have been explained beforehand. The few things we enjoyed aren't enough to make us want to return. I think it could become a great place if they fix most of these issues, especially with such a lovely family running it. I wish them all the best with the business.

The resort is cozy, nicely decorated, and has spacious gardens and pools. The units were clean and neat, with all the amenities we needed. It's away from the business of El Nido, but close enough to enjoy the stunning area. There was a misunderstanding between the local organizers and the resort about our trip, so by the time we reached the departure beach there was no boat available. The staff at Kalinga resort were determined to sort it out, and arranged a "private" boat with food and drinks included at no extra charge. My daughter and I had a great stay and a wonderful time on the trip.

It's tucked away from the crowds, a great place to relax by the beach. The room was clean and nice, and the ac worked perfectly. Breakfast was included and very good. If you ask, they can take you to and from the center in a tuktuk. They were happy to help with everything, from motorbike rentals to daily boat tours.

The pool is beautifully arranged, with a direct sea view, and the air-conditioned rooms are in a quieter part of el Nido, away from the bustle. Staff were very warm and helpful. Breakfast is available, but they don't serve lunch or dinner. The city centre of el Nido is about 15 minutes walk away, and the operators offer a shuttle into town. It's one of the cheaper places with a pool, and you can tell it's a bit dated. It's basically clean and tidy, just old and no longer up to date. The showers work well or poorly depending on the time of day.
