Raje Residence

For a tight budget, this is a good pick. I stayed three nights and had no complaints about the hotel. The staff were discreet and nice, and cleaned the room whenever I asked. The rooms were clean and had no insects, apart from mosquitoes, which you get all over the world when it's hot and humid. The location is handy: a short walk from the bus terminal, with laundry nearby, a supermarket, and scooter rentals across the street. It's funny seeing Europeans and other tourists from wealthy countries complain about poor water pressure, ants, or other bugs when they're paying 300php a night. Don't visit a tropical country if you can't handle it!

It's a low-budget hotel, and honestly, not a great stay. I booked three nights. At first they gave me an old room that was kind of okay, then the next day moved me upstairs because they'd assigned me the bigger room by mistake. The new room's tap didn't work. They changed it, but it began leaking. The water pressure was ridiculously low, so showering was hard and flushing the toilet was a nightmare. WiFi and even mobile data didn't work in the room, and there were bad smells from outside. The staff were nice, but I wouldn't come back.

Fair for the price. The bed and towels were in very good condition, but the aircon was too noisy to sleep with. The water often stopped, maybe because of a problem with the pressure system, and the smell wasn't great.

We stayed at Raje Residence in October 25. It was about a 10-minute walk to the center, and the staff were very friendly and helped us arrange a bike rental and tuktuk. But there was a serious damp problem, with leaks on every floor all the time. Our room felt very damp, which unfortunately made us feel dirty. The AC seemed to make it worse, as it felt like it was blowing damp, dirty air.
