Kokai Resort

The owner was helpful and nice, and the room was cozy and affordable for two. It’s convenient, about 100 meters from both the beach and the main road. I liked that it was quiet and had a hammock to relax in. The shared toilet could use some improvement. They serve food, but I found it a bit expensive. There isn’t much of a community vibe, since the place seems more suited to people who want to keep to themselves. You can still try to hang out with others if they’re around the restaurant area.

The water was the one problem; everything else was great. The staff were really friendly and went to great lengths to help me. There’s a platform next to the dorm where people hang out most of the time, and the bar was good too. I was travelling solo but never felt alone. People were usually hanging out together, so the dorms were quiet. They aren’t air conditioned, but the fans are quite good. The bed was comfortable, there’s a locker for your things, and the beach is within a two minute walk. If you’re looking for surf trainers, ask for jessie or his brother. They’re great.

Sandy was a helpful host and gave us tips on what to do, and we had a lovely stay at Kokai Resort. We hired a bike there and booked a surf lesson too, so there’s no need to stay at a surf camp while in Siargao. Our private double room was huge and stayed pleasantly cool with both the air con and a fan. Thanks, Sandy and family! :)

The bungalow was clean and well cared for, with the AC and fan both working properly. I also liked how quiet the place stayed, even though Cloud 9 is only a few minutes away. The food at the restaurant was tasty and affordable, and Sandy and the staff were welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. I do understand the reason for the checkout time, though a little flexibility might be nice. I’d recommend staying here if you’re visiting Siargao.
