I left straight away. Two men tried to break into my room, a child peered in through the curtains, and a woman kept trying to enter, then looked through the curtains when she couldn’t. When I asked reception what was going on, they said it was staff. They didn’t try to help. It was a horrible experience.

We chose Shat's guest house for its spot along Gen Luna, right where things are happening in Siargao. The reception has a rustic feel, so don’t judge it by the facade. Our attic room on the second floor was clean and comfortable, with working AC, an open cabinet, and a fan. It suited four people, and the terrace was a nice place to hang out. The staff were friendly and flexible about our check-in time.

I liked being right in town but tucked away at the back, away from the main road. The bed was comfortable, and the hot shower and WiFi both worked well. There’s Filipino food on site, restaurants on the street, and a great coffee place out front. I’d recommend this place.

It looks old and basic, and the owner is really greedy about money. I’d book through an app, otherwise it costs a lot more.

The room was clean, and I booked here because it was the only lodging I found that let me pay at the hotel, even though it cost a bit more. There was no hot water, TV, or WiFi. Restaurants, carinderias, shops, and a BDO ATM were nearby.
