Strangers Inn & Bar

We booked a family room for November 5 to 6, two nights, and had a very good stay. It felt safe, the room was clean, and there were two large beds. The staff were all considerate and welcoming.

We stayed just two nights in a new, clean family room, close enough to the main road for shops, restaurants, and bars. The upstairs entertainment area was a nice place to relax, and the cheerful owners were always happy to help. They arranged a scooter for us at a reasonable price, which let us explore farther out. Cloud 9 is a 15 min ride away. A smart, affordable place, highly recommend.

We left that same evening, and although the electricity came back hours later, nobody apologized for the disruption. We handed the keys back after checking in, and felt the money was wasted on poor service. We’d booked three nights at Strangers Inn as first-time visitors to Siargao. We knew about the electricity rotation and understood it was beyond the inn’s control. Before check-in, our travel coordinator, a third party, told us there would be no power until 6PM, so after landing at Dapa Port we waited a while. We left our bags at the front desk, went to get a snack, then returned for the 2PM check-in, changed, and headed out. When we came back at 8PM, the power went out a few minutes later. The rest of the street still had electricity, so this seemed limited to Stranger's Inn. The front desk person said a generator malfunction had taken out power throughout the building. After that, we got no further updates, apology, or reassurance. We’d travelled a long way from Surigao and were panicking about losing the restful night we’d looked forward to on Siargao. An hour passed with no word from the owner, while other guests were also wondering when it would be fixed. We booked somewhere else that offered better guest service. I wish problems like this were handled better before they escalate, and that owners would contact guests directly. We left frustrated, without even an apology for the inconvenience.

After our first booking turned into a nightmare, we moved here and were relieved to find a clean place with some of the friendliest staff I’ve met in Philippines. They provide what you need, and there’s a decent rooftop bar. The location is fine, near the main road, and renting a moped makes getting around easy. I’d recommend it.
