Hotel Del Rio

The staff were kind and helpful, and the hotel is in a very convenient spot. The price made up for the rooms being clean but quite old and in need of freshening up. The pool area seemed completely abandoned, with no tables, chairs, or usable pool, and there was nowhere to sit and relax outside. We left early for that reason. The photos show some lovely rooms, so maybe ours was one that hadn't been renovated in 20 years. If you book, ask for one of the newer rooms.

The breakfast buffet was okay. The crepes looked good, and the coffee was hot and good black, but we skipped breakfast on the second morning. I would have liked a room with a view, and decent restaurants aren't within walking distance. The room itself was in terrible shape. The floor was dirty, so don't take your shoes off. There was black mold in the bathroom, the sheets were stiff and itchy, and the mattress felt like a rock. The air conditioner made a horrible noise. A closet light stayed on because the sliding door wouldn't close all the way. Maybe it was a decent hotel 20 years ago, but it isn't now. I'd strongly recommend finding an Airbnb elsewhere.

The staff were so kind and welcoming, and their service and food were lovely. They were accommodating with both local and international guests, from what we saw. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, especially the crepes. I was sick and couldn't finish them, and I'm still sad about it. Next time we visit Iloilo, I'd love to stay here again and eat lots of crepes. Sorry to the chef, but sending lots of love.

Raymond made our stay especially memorable. Check-in was smooth, and he surprised us with a cake for our wedding anniversary. He was always smiling, accommodating, and genuinely caring. He's a real gem at Hotel Del Rio. The amazing staff and service make it easy to see why Hotel Del Rio has been operating since 1965. Thanks for such a wonderful stay. We'll be back!
