We stayed four nights over five days, without the amenities you’d expect for a transient stay. The landlord still charged us 4,500 PHP, or 900 per night. This was despite agreeing to prorate our rent based on the monthly price of 5k, since we were leaving after one week. The weekly rate was 1k, with electricity and water billed separately. We wanted to move to another apartment because the conditions weren’t working for us, and the landlord agreed. But when we said we were transferring, he didn’t return the one month advance and one month deposit. We waited over a month and ended up getting only 4,500 PHP back for that week. The prices seemed high to me, and the landlord’s pricing felt unfair.

There’s not much to do nearby, and food choices are limited unless you’re happy with local food. The room itself is very basic, with few TV channels and internet that was useless. The shower had no hot water. I was there for one night before an early flight. Check-in felt a little awkward, though it was fairly quick. I asked for help booking a trike to the airport, and was told it had been arranged, but nobody was at reception in the morning, so I found one myself. At night, the parking area is dark, with a fence and an open gate across it, and no security guards on duty. It’s okay for a night, but I wouldn’t suggest staying longer.

The staff were friendly, helpful, and really accommodating. For 500, the room had AC and a TV, though there was no hot shower. Fine for a night, but I wouldn’t stay long term. The little street leading there gets pretty dark at night, which felt a bit scary.

I was here the week before Ati-Atihan in 2019. The room was really good for the cheap price, and had its own bathroom. There’s also a rooftop to relax, rest, or have a drink. The place is spacious, and the owner was very accommodating. I’d like to stay again if I make it back to Kalibo.

It’s a standard pension house, right near the center of Kalibo, and tricycle drivers all seem to know it. Book with them and breakfast is included, with Silog meals. The room was okay, nothing special, but it works for travellers planning to explore Kalibo.
