Hotel Tiffany - Laoag

I was very disappointed with this overnight stay. There was no parking for buses or coaches, and we had to walk to the hotel without any help. There’s no elevator, so guests on the fourth floor have to carry their luggage up the stairs alone. When I asked for an extra towel, a crew member knocked twice and then opened the door without waiting for us to answer. The worst part was slipping in the shower. There were no handrails or shower mats. I told the receptionist what happened, and he said they had either forgotten to put out a mat or didn’t provide one. Think carefully before choosing this hotel.

The location is great, right in central Laoag near supermarkets, with Robinsons mall a few minutes away by car and a Jolibee across the street. The rooms are small, but the CR was clean. Noise from the common area carries into the rooms, and breakfast isn’t included. The food at the hotel’s 50s-inspired diner wasn’t very good, and the staff weren’t very responsive.

Downstairs they serve food that represents Ilocano dishes. Naimas! The rooms are fine for sleeping and short stays, though the bathrooms seem hurriedly finished without much thought for space or comfort. Some staff could use more training in taking initiative. For me, this would be my third or fourth choice of places to stay. Fort Ilocandia is number one, and I don’t know yet what I’d put second.

The rooms and comfort rooms are nice and comfortable, and the four-storey hotel has no elevator. You can order food downstairs from Macy's and ask for takeout to avoid the extra 10-20% charge. Macy's has cozy fifties diner decor, and the food is cheap and yummy. If you like Ilocano vinegar, ask for some. It has lots of chili but isn’t overwhelmingly spicy, and you can buy it as a souvenir to use at home.
