EGI Resort and Hotel

I wouldn’t stay here. There’s no beach, and the view is disgusting, with trash left around instead of being cleaned up. The staff were horrible and tried to charge us an extra 500 over a tiny food stain on a towel, about the size of my fingertip. At check-in, they handed us a power card but no room key. When I went back to ask, I was told we had to request one. Avoid this dirty place.

Fantastic stay, but the parking area needs work. It should be renovated or cemented as soon as possible.

The food was good, and it’s a nice place to unwind not far from Cebu City. There are three spacious pools. The beachfront is small and was pretty murky when we visited, since it had just rained.

I’ve stayed in the Philippines and Cebu before, and this was the worst hotel I’ve had. I booked it for the pools and beach, but the beach bar restaurant had been completely destroyed in the super typhoon and was still in that condition. The pools were okay and there was a good variety, but there weren’t many loungers. The pool bathroom door wouldn’t close, and its toilet didn’t flush properly. The hall floors were dirty, and the ceiling in front of the elevator was missing or had fallen in. Some guests had their doors propped open. The restaurants were empty, and I changed my mind about trying the spa after seeing the building and staff. Wi-Fi didn’t work. For under a hundred it may not seem expensive by Western standards, but by Philippine costs you can get a much cleaner, better hotel. There were plenty of guards, so the hotel itself didn’t feel unsafe. I would have left if I hadn’t only been there for 12 hours. I arrived 45 minutes before check-in and waited 20 minutes at the counter while they looked for my reservation. They then told me check-in was at three. When I asked whether a clean room might be ready early, a man shouted rudely that I had to wait until three, loudly enough for the whole lobby to turn and look. At 2:45 they found me a room on the fourth floor, garden side. I was told not to put my keycard near my phone, and later realized the magnetic strips were very weak and the doors hard to open. The security latch had also been removed from my door. The room was large but dim, with only a noisy window AC unit set into the wall. You could hear the neighbors. The toilet didn’t work, so I had to flush it manually, and other parts of the room were clearly worn or in disrepair. The hotel has seen better days and wasn’t clean. I’d never stay here again.
