This didn’t feel like the luxury beachfront stay the photos and marketing led us to expect. Tambuli came across more as a residential condominium complex with shared facilities than a purpose-built resort, and at its current price it wasn’t good value compared with other beachfront places in Cebu. The accommodation is spread through large condo-style towers, with privately owned Airbnb units mixed in with hotel-managed rooms. Standards seemed inconsistent, and some Airbnb units in the same buildings looked better furnished and better value than the official hotel rooms. The whole property felt busy and residential, with lots of families and a steady flow of outside visitors, rather than calm and carefully managed. Our room’s “garden view” was mostly dirt, construction materials, and unfinished landscaping, not the gardens the description suggested. Upkeep was uneven in other areas too. The in-room safe didn’t work when we arrived. A team tried to fix it after about an hour, then gave up half an hour later and swapped in one from another unit. That one ran out of battery soon after. The day pass system brought in so many non-residents that the facilities could get crowded at any point during the day. As paying guests, we couldn’t see any clear priority or separation from day visitors. Pools, the beachfront, and shared spaces filled up without warning, which made it hard to relax. The beach itself was busy and more rocky than expected, with seaweed and some trash. We didn’t use the facilities we’d paid a premium for because they were crowded and not especially well maintained. Breakfast was poor, with little flavor. If you arrived after 9:00 am, there was hardly anything left and it wasn’t replenished. Some staff were polite and clearly trying their best, but the property seemed caught between residential development and resort branding without quite working as either. We researched Tambuli and read earlier reviews, yet still didn’t know about most of these issues.

The place is clean and pretty, and I especially liked the green, well-kept entrance. The beach and pools are lovely, the service is great, and having restaurants right inside the resort is really convenient. You can call reception to be connected to one, order, and have the food brought straight to your room. I’d definitely come back and stay here again.

Breakfast at Cafe Hojas was a highlight for us, with a generous buffet that was fresh and well prepared. We also loved the flavorful, perfectly cooked pizza at Pugon. Mae from Reservations deserves a special mention too. She helped arrange a Valentines surprise for my wife, and everything was beautifully set up. My wife and I both loved it. Thanks, Mae. We had a rough start at the bar, where drinks took almost an hour and the food took even longer. I raised the issue with manager Angelo, who listened carefully, was helpful and sincerely apologetic, and promised improvements at Barmontan. His reassurance and clear expectations saved our last night from becoming a disaster, and we appreciated how he handled it. Even with that initial setback, the way management and staff responded makes us keen to return with family and friends. Thank you to Tambuli Management and staff. God bless.

Rey made a real impression on us. From greeting me at the restaurant on my first day to being around the resort with a smile and ready to help, he made sure I was looked after. The service from staff across the resort and restaurants was great. We had an exceptional seafood BBQ dinner tonight, with unlimited local beers and wine, fresh catch seafood, and tasty local delicacies. Tambuli is a beautiful place, with pristine beaches, sparkling pools, gourmet restaurants, and spacious rooms. Make it your home in Cebu!

We’d happily eat at the Italian restaurant again. The Caesar salad was fresh and nicely balanced, and the pizza came out perfectly cooked. We also enjoyed the rich, comforting chicken parmigiana and the aubergine (eggplant) parmigiana, though a little extra tomato sauce would have made that one even better. The dinner was delicious and the whole experience was fantastic.
