Casablanca Hotel

The staff were friendly and very willing to help with requests, and the booking included good food for free. The room was only semi-comfortable, though. We stayed four days, and it felt like an old place: the shower curtain was dirty, the sink rusty, and the toilet took a long time to flush.

The room cost me 1,250 a day, which didn't feel worth it, and there were several drawbacks: no elevator, water dispenser, or pool, old sheets and towels, unfriendly staff, and creepy hallways and staircases. There are a few positives, including a lovely view of Mt. Mayon from the fire exit and a water heater. Shuttle service and a bar are available, but you have to ask for them. They really need to make significant improvements.

It feels like a secure place to relax or have a staycation, with security staff who are accommodating and manage the parking well. The food was delicious, including native dishes, and the staff were approachable and focused on good customer service. It's in a pleasant setting that's accessible for guests, with malls and markets nearby.

The wifi was strong, and the hotel is close to the city center, so a jeep or tricycle ride makes it easy to explore. At the seminar, our room was already in use and we had to move to an alternative one, where the air conditioning barely worked. The sound wasn't good either, and only improved after we transferred to the Pavillion. The food was okay. One server removed our drinks before we'd touched them and didn't ask if we were finished, though the other servers did. I think the staff need more training and orientation.
