The Coral Beach Club

The atmosphere and facilities were lovely, and the rooms, security, pool, and jacuzzi were all great. Wi-Fi worked well too. Food and drinks at the restaurant and bar were a little pricey. We visited on CNY eve and got to join the lantern lighting, which we enjoyed. It might have looked better if they lit them all at once. Still, it was a fun experience. ❤

The rooms were just about acceptable for this price and could've been cleaner. Still, it was good value, with well-prepared food, plenty of variety, and many vegetarian choices. CBC has a great spot in the middle of Matabunkay Beach, with striking sunset views. For an easygoing small place with nice scenery and good food, it's an easy win and probably the best value on Matabunkay Beach. There's the hallowed Matabungkay Beach Hotel, but after having dinner there, I didn't think it was much better for the money.

I stopped in for a beer and was surprised by a 10% service charge for simply handing me a bottle. That already seemed excessive. The pool was completely empty, but when I politely asked to use it, I was told it was only for guests. Since I'd just paid for something, the rigid refusal felt unfriendly and focused on money instead of service. It left me feeling that unless you pay more, you're not welcome, even when the facilities are sitting unused. When I tried to explain my profession to the staff, they smirked and reacted in a way that felt dismissive, as if they didn't take me seriously or thought I was joking. That was disrespectful and unprofessional toward a paying visitor. I came away with the strong impression that the priority is adding charges for tourists instead of showing genuine hospitality. There are plenty of places nearby where guests are treated with more respect. I wouldn't return. This was a very disappointing experience.

The food choices were plentiful, and they have a weekly menu, though prices felt a bit high, especially with a 10% service charge on everything. The beachfront itself wasn't crowded, and most of the guests were foreigners. Our room was clean and had a good sea view, which I included in the photos. The jacuzzi wasn't warm, hello. The pool was small, but that was okay since not many guests used it.
