The Philip Ann Resort

The house reef is beautiful, full of corals and fish, and we even saw a turtle. There are sun beds facing the sea, a nice place to rest afterward. The resort is small but has great facilities, good food, and even better staff. Everyone made me feel welcome and at home. They arranged my dives, and the instructor was amazing.

We stayed in rooms 201 and 107. They were spacious, clean, and quiet, and the restaurant food was super, with generous portions. The resort felt like a one-stop place for a vacation, with a spa and an actual steam room. There were lots of freebies too, a big plus compared with other hotels we’ve visited. The staff were attentive from the start. Security greeted us by name, the admin team were cheerful, and management paid close attention. The owners were generous with complimentary items, and staff seemed to know what my cousin needed before they had to ask. We loved waiting for golden hour in the heated jacuzzi, and were lucky to have good weather for the sunset. It was one of our best family outing spots. We’ll bring more family next time. We brought our young child and two dogs to Philip Ann Resort in Mabini on a spontaneous, quick trip. The manager and all the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and treated us like royalty. Our fur babies got welcome treats, and we humans received complimentary drinks. There were so many extras, including kayaks, snorkeling gear, the steam room, karaoke, and billiards, all free to use. Everything you need for a fun, relaxing getaway is there. I’ve stayed at many diving resorts in Mabini, and this one surpasses them all. The trip felt bitin, and we wish we’d had longer. Thank you to management and every staff member for making our stay special. You’re all superstars. We’ll definitely come back! 🌊🐾❤️

The resort has some real positives for a family stay. The price is affordable, staff were responsive and accommodating, and we had a complimentary drink on arrival. There are free kayaks, island hopping tours leave conveniently from the resort jetty, the beach was pleasant and fairly clean with only a little rubbish, and the food was great, though somewhat pricey. Karaoke, a pool table, Jenga, and table tennis were fun free entertainment. The family room was generally clean, but the bathroom was in poor shape. The toilet smelled bad when we arrived, and there was mold all through the shower tile joints, the worst I’ve ever seen in a resort or hotel. The shower had a bizarre, overcomplicated design, and most settings didn’t work properly because water pressure was low. We got just one key for a room meant for 6+ people, which was inconvenient. The bamboo ladders outside for drying wet clothes were moldy and much too small for a family room. Shared facilities were also neglected. The pool and jacuzzi water were really dirty, with moldy cushions around them, so we didn’t want to use them. Every arcade game we tried was basically unplayable because the display was cut off at the bottom. The artificial grass was badly worn and overdue for replacement. I saw a video from when the resort first opened, and the difference is night and day. I wonder whether they see the irony of playing it continuously in the restaurant. The location has potential and the staff are great, but the property feels tired and neglected now. With proper upkeep and refurbishment, the Philip Ann could be much better. As it stands, I don’t recommend it and won’t return.
