Nouveau Resort

Being so close to the port was a big help after our six-hour crossing to Camiguin. The pool is huge and never felt crowded, with lots of chairs and tables nearby where we could relax and order from the bar. The stairs are wide and easy to use. My only improvement suggestion is the parking area: covered paths would help when it's rainy or very hot, especially for cars parked at the far end. We were really happy with our stay at Nouveau Hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and nicely designed, and I liked having the toilet separate from the bath. The price is on the high side, but I felt it was worth it. Staff were very accommodating and lent us beach towels for our trips to the island's beaches and waterfalls. The fridge freebies were a nice touch, just keep in mind they aren't replenished every day. Breakfast was included, and the buffet had lots of tasty choices. I especially liked the unlimited sikwate. There were plenty of tables, the staff were professional, and I appreciated the clearly separated halal food. The way the staff treated us like VIPs made us feel special. This stay has raised the bar for my future trips to Camiguin.

We had some noise at first, so we asked to move rooms. The staff reacted quickly and kindly, even upgrading us. That really improved things, and we were able to relax and enjoy the resort as we'd hoped. We appreciated how seriously they took the issue and how smoothly they sorted it out.

The room was spacious and nice, but the toilet smelled bad. I asked housekeeping to clean it more thoroughly, but the smell was still there afterward. The glass partition between the shower and toilet was also dirty and had a lot of lime buildup. The pool area had many black dirty patches, and the indoor kids' pool was dirty too. Some of the staff didn't seem happy to work there, and it came across as a cold, unwelcoming place. The coffee bar near the front desk had a sign saying it was open from 10 am to 6 pm, yet it took ten minutes to find someone to make a cappuccino. They couldn't tell me what kind of cake was behind the display glass, and our empty cups were still on the table three hours later. That's the first area guests see when they enter. Breakfast was just so-so, certainly not five-star. Even after we'd been seated for an hour with only a few other guests around, nobody cleared the empty plates. Green tea was the only tea available. On the evening of 24.12, there was a Christmas dinner notice left at my door, saying the last a la carte order was until 4 pm. I only found the letter at 06.00 am on 25.12.25, so it was pointless by then. Over a stay of a few days, you notice that a lot of things don't work. With so few guests, I now understand why. I'd rate it at most 3+, and it's too expensive for what you get. It's a pity, but we won't book again. It's not worth the money, and other hotels make their guests feel much more welcome.

We couldn't swim at the beach because it was too rocky. On our first night, only our group was staying, so they weren't able to offer a breakfast buffet. The following nights, when there were more people, they did provide a full buffet. It was decent enough, though the sausages weren't tasty at all and the bacon seemed fake. The bread selection, on the other hand, was really good. Great hotel overall.
