Dusit Thani Manila

Ms. Eli was so friendly and helpful the whole time, and made my stay even better. My room was clean and comfortable too, and the service in general was excellent. I had a pleasant stay at Dusit Thani Manila and would highly recommend it. 😊

We keep choosing Dusit Thani Manila whenever we’re in the Philippines. Our January 05-09 visit was our fifth stay, and the people are why we return. The whole team made it feel welcoming and personal, and we’re already looking forward to another visit. Our Club Premier Executive Suite was consistently spotless and well kept. Housekeeping did a great job. The Concierge team, especially Josh and Khei, were knowledgeable and proactive, handling requests smoothly and with a smile. We especially loved the Club Lounge team. Paulette, Michelle, and Irish were warm, professional, and attentive, with a personal touch that made each lounge visit a highlight. The Pantry staff were friendly and efficient as well. Thanks to everyone for another memorable stay.

The room and bathroom were clean, and the mattress was comfortable, but the pillows were oddly puffy and still flat. I tried four and couldn’t get proper support. The aircon took ages to cool the room, and the thin walls let in the sounds of housekeeping next door and people outside. We had no towels on arrival, then waited about two hours and followed up several times before they came. The food was a letdown. Benjarong and the Club Lounge offerings disappointed us. Benjarong used to be the best Thai restaurant in Manila, though I don’t know what changed. The dishes tasted bland. The beef massaman had barely any beef, one small piece of potato, and very runny broth. The crispy catfish came with only a few thin strips of green mango, when it was supposed to have a lot. The Valentine’s dinner didn’t have a wow factor either. Some staff made me feel discriminated against. A few spoke only to my foreign husband and ignored me, then acknowledged me only after realizing I don’t have a local accent. I nearly said something. To be fair, some staff were polite and treated me properly. Some F&B staff also seemed like interns. When my husband asked for a beer, one replied, “Bhe?”, wth!? At checkout they tried to charge us again for transport we’d already paid for in cash, and I had to intervene before they charged my husband’s card. It turned out the payment had been mistakenly entered under my name. They sorted it out and the receptionist apologized, but it shouldn’t have happened. The location is very good, right by malls with good restaurants. We stayed two nights over Valentine’s and didn’t enjoy it. We won’t be back.

The shopping mall opposite is convenient, but there’s little else of interest within walking distance, and the air pollution doesn’t make a walk appealing. The gym is undersized, with inadequate sports facilities. Breakfast hygiene didn’t impress me either. Could they do without flies at the buffet? I’ve just checked in and am already disappointed and quite annoyed. My room faces west, and highway noise comes straight through the windows, ruining sleep and the next day. The room and bathroom are an okay size, but the bed linen seems stale and doesn’t feel or smell fresh. The hotel is old and needs an upgrade and refresh. The carpet looks poorly maintained, and the room door has no soundproofing, so I could hear every word from the opposite room. When I mentioned the noise at checkout, staff just grinned and seemed not to care. The place was only okay overall. I don’t think I’ll return. It’s not what I’m used to from a Dusit property.
