The cultural tour arranged through Balihao was the most meaningful part of our visit. We met local residents, learned about farming, watched rope being made from coconut husks and shared a homemade community lunch. It was authentic, humbling and gave us a perspective we wouldn't otherwise have had. The private transport the resort arranged made touring the island easy. Pay attention to daily life along the way, it was one of the most impactful parts for us. We stayed in a pool villa with lush landscaping and a peaceful view of the ocean on the north side of the island. It felt calm, private and connected to the surroundings. The staff were the friendliest we met on our whole trip, and every interaction felt thoughtful and genuine. The owners clearly care about Camiguin and the surrounding community, and support local initiatives while creating meaningful experiences for guests. There can be brief power outages, as the resort explains on its website. We appreciated the reminder that this is a real island, not a manufactured setting, and it helped us slow down and settle into the rhythm of the place. In the mornings, we could hear local fishermen selling their catch and watch boats come and go. In the evenings, there's a lovely sunset spot, especially nice with a fruit drink or cocktail. The resort food was very good and convenient. For a longer stay, I'd mix in local restaurants to support other small businesses too. And try the ube ice cream, I'm still thinking about how good it was. We left rested and grateful to have been welcomed into this community. Balihao was a special place because of both its beauty and the people behind it. I'd recommend arranging your port pickup or drop-off with the resort in advance. Island transport has its own rhythm, and coordinating directly with Balihao makes things smoother and helps drivers know exactly who they're collecting.

The hosts and staff are what make Balihao Resort stand out. Everyone was incredibly kind, and the owners, Lara and Steven, have put their hearts into creating a place that feels completely unique. We had a fantastic stay from the moment we arrived. Every meal was a highlight, prepared with obvious care, and the food was grandiose. If you're looking for a beautiful place with amazing hosts, we can't recommend it enough.

Our room was bright, spacious and beautifully decorated, with a stunning sea view. Watching sunrise and sunset from the terrace felt magical. The resort's gardens and design blend into the surrounding nature, with lush plants, direct beach access and even a few little goats wandering around. Everything was handled so smoothly and quietly. Housekeeping, room service and little touches happened without disturbing us, which made the stay feel peaceful and refined. The staff were kind, helpful and attentive without being intrusive. The owners were present and truly cared about our well-being, taking time to chat and share good advice. The food was outstanding, with real care given to local ingredients that are often overlooked. Every meal was delicious, and the cocktails and fresh juices were among the best we've had. We were lucky to be there for New Year's Eve. The food and cocktails were excellent again, and celebrating with a small, intimate group of guests made the evening special. Balihao Resort is a memorable place, and we'd return in a heartbeat.

We were welcomed warmly, and owner Steven made us feel at home right away. The setting at Balihao in Camiguin is heavenly, but the hospitality is what really stood out. This was the best restaurant we've tried since starting our trip in the Philippines. The food is excellent and made with fresh local ingredients. Their homemade sourdough bread is incredible, and the roasted coffee from Cebu is a rare treat here. It's a brand-new place with lots of potential. We're so glad we found it. If you're visiting the island, it's well worth staying and eating here.

I didn't stay overnight, but I came back to the restaurant three times. Joseph behind the bar makes the best cocktails on the island. Citrus is my favourite, though I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. The food was amazing too. My picks were the shrimp skewers, seared tuna salad and mais rice salad. The service was next level, and it was a pleasure chatting with the very sweet owners, Stephen and Laura. I'm glad those street signs led me here.
