The food at Txalenta was the best I've had across all my trips to the Philippines. Every meal was delicious and memorable. The owner's warm hospitality, clean rooms, and good service made it a relaxing place to stay in Camiguin, and it really felt like home away from home. Just a friendly suggestion for a future visit from a group of middle-aged Korean guests: grilled pork belly (samgyeopsal) on a charcoal grill with classic soju would be a big hit. We'd happily return next time we're in Camiguin.

We had so much fun at Txaleta de Camiguin and left with wonderful memories. The place was cozy and relaxing, with a great ocean view, and all the food we ordered was delicious. We stayed from December 26-30, and the owners and staff made us feel right at home with their kindness and attentive service. Thank you so much, Anton, Ms. Milet, Chai, and everyone at Txaleta de Camiguin. We loved our stay and will definitely visit again. Highly recommended to anyone coming to Camiguin!

What stays with me most is how kind and polite the owners and staff were. They genuinely cared and made us feel incredibly welcome, which was special. Jenny deserves a mention too, she was so lovable and always smiling. The rooms and the place itself are beautiful, with everything we needed, and most have a sea view. Hearing the waves at night was magical. Dining was peaceful, the food was great, and the WiFi was good for working online. Thanks so much, Melinda, Antonio, Diana, and Chai.

After my first review, things improved noticeably. The manager personally handled the situation and responded professionally, and I appreciated being offered another room, even though I stayed put. The bathroom smell had clearly improved, so I raised the room rating from two to three stars. I also gave service five stars for the care shown. I left happy, even though I wasn't happy on the first day. My final rating is now 4 out of 5. I hope the feedback helps the resort keep improving, because it has real potential. I wasn't expecting a luxury resort, and I considered the country, staff training, and the price I paid. I appreciate it when someone listens to a guest who stays in many different places during the year. I hope the mirrors I mentioned at check-out will be cleaned for future guests. It may help to hire one or two more people. Having the same person serve breakfast and wash dishes makes it hard to keep up, and small service gaps are almost unavoidable with that workload. I don't think the staff are the issue. Everyone was friendly and smiling, even when things weren't perfect. It seems more like staffing, workload, and mainly a low budget to maximize restaurant profits. On the original visit, the rooms were a serious problem. They smelled terrible, and I had to cover the drains with a cloth because the odor was so bad. Showering was nearly impossible, with water either scalding hot or ice cold and maybe a 4-second transition, barely enough to get wet. Other than that, things were okay. The pool was clean and fine, and the location was nice though not ideal, because traffic on the road below made noticeable noise. Service could have been better, as some staff seemed inattentive while others were friendly and competent. I gave it 3 stars then because it didn't match what I'd expect from a property like this with a 4.9 rating and higher-end Philippines prices. The prices were what I found especially outrageous. A can of Sprite Zero was 110 pesos, plus 12% tax and service charge, so 123 pesos. A can normally costs 60-90 pesos in the Philippines. Food was also overpriced for tiny portions. Three small pieces of fish cost 400 pesos plus 12%, with no sides or garnish. In a few days, I planned to return to the pizzeria 500 meters away, where a can costs 80 pesos, the food is much more filling and tastes excellent, and service is on point. I was paying less and didn't leave hungry. I also checked prices elsewhere on the island. Drinks at Farmhouse Pizzeria and Harana Surf Resort Restaurant were around 80 pesos including tax and service, so this resort's prices were then more than 50% higher. Those are considered two of the island's better restaurants, where I had satisfying meals for less and wasn't left hungry. It was a shame that many reviewers didn't put things into perspective. Originally, I'd given this resort 5 stars, not because it had no in-room fridge, but because it felt relaxing. Breakfast had been brought from the kitchen with care, at a portion size that let me start the day properly, and the fruit that had been missing before was finally on the table. I don't think it's about comparing this place with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts or Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. It's about passion, attention to detail, and the resources available in the kitchen.

We went to Camiguin from February 25-28 and were so glad we booked Txaleta for 4 fun days. It had originally been planned as a trip for just my bestie and me, but our MNL-Ceb-CGM flight left us offloaded in Cebu on the 24th and redirected to CDO. Two other friends decided to join at the last minute, with different flights arriving the next day. By the time we got to CGM on the 25th we were tired and stressed. Ms. Milet was so kind as our host and main contact throughout the trip. She agreed to our requests, understood what had happened, and still accommodated us. She also explained the planned route from CDO to Camiguin and gave us trip tips. Thanks to Sir. Anton for answering questions and making the booking smooth, kuya Ed for picking us up at the port, and Ms. Chai and the crew for their warm welcome and great service. The restaurant area looks out over the scenery, and the whole place is so peaceful. We loved the watermelon slushie and all the food we ordered became favorites. The clean rooms felt relaxing and homey, with all the amenities we needed. The beach bag in the room was a cute and useful touch. We highly recommend this lovely place and will come back and tell everyone we know.
