Cityscape Hotel

Clean and nice enough for an overnight stop. The bed and bathroom were good, though the towels and toilet felt about average, maybe 3 out of 5. I was too tired to take a photo, so I just slept, got up, and left. Not a new favorite, but it did the job.

For the price and location, this is a decent value. The pool itself is kept up, but the acrylic railing on the roof deck gets grimy from dust and smoke. It needs constant cleaning to stay clear, and looking through a dirty panel takes away from the relaxing feel. It has the feel of a typical independent hotel in the Philippines that's been around for a while. Most things are nice enough, though some maintenance and repairs seem to be slipping.

The location worked perfectly for our 12-day stay, and the room was clean. Still, there were cockroaches everywhere, and the toilet kept clogging. One day there was a big explosion in the bathroom and the water heater blew up. The shower pressure was sometimes low, too. The curtains were dirty, so I don't understand why there were so many cockroaches despite the clean room.

Sir Pablo was especially helpful, arranging our private tour around Cebu, and we really liked the staff and their customer service. The hotel was also handy for the places we wanted to visit, and being near Sykes, where I used to work, brought back memories. We stayed for seven days in May 2019. The pool was under maintenance, so we couldn't use it, which kept this from being a five-star stay. Still, it was memorable, and I'd stay at Cityscape Hotel again if we return to Cebu.
