Manila Lee - Malate Bayview Mansion

We had a great five-night stay. Melanie was approachable and did a great job. Cleaning, laundry, and other full-service options are available for an extra charge. We didn't need the daily cleaning, and the toiletries provided were enough for two days, but we had brought our own, so that wasn't an issue. The only thing we missed was a walis tambo for sweeping now and then. The pool was the one real downside. Guests have to pay 150PHP per person per day, whether they swim for 30 minutes or the whole day. That felt too expensive when we were already paying to stay, and I've never had to pay extra as a guest to use a pool at the other hotels and condos I've stayed in.

At about USD40 a night, this was the best accommodation value I've ever had. My 30/F Bayview studio had an unbeatable view and a clean, well-equipped kitchenette, and the bedding was very comfortable, though the room wasn't luxurious. The gym gear is a little dated but usable, while the large pool is good for laps and looks out over the city. The Manila Korea Town location is great for food, with plenty of places to eat nearby. Robinsons Place is a 10-minute walk for shopping and dining. Mel, the caretaker, was responsive and helpful throughout. This has become my preferred place to stay in Manila.

The building is aging, and a couple of issues came up after I checked in, but Marlin, the manager, dealt with them right away and was a great help. I think she lives in one of the units. I stayed four days in a one-bedroom condo, and there are regular residents in the building. It's in the middle of Koreatown, with plenty of restaurants within walking distance and Robinson mall nearby. Marlin also speaks pretty decent English, which helped. Regular hotel services all cost extra here.

The view from this Airbnb loft was spectacular. I only stayed overnight, and it's close to robinsons manila, with lots of bars downstairs. It can get noisy at night, but I still had a great stay.
